It’s okay, but needs a lot of improvement.

This app is good in terms of layout, but that’s about it. I am learning two languages- french and Japanese. For languages that require characters, anything that’s not the Roman alphabet, they have an option to see the words romanized, which is not good at all. This disables the ability to read and translate the words, and a lot of beginners choose the ‘shortcut’. This app did not teach a single thing about romaji or katakana or kanji... or any structure of Japanese. I’m sure it’s the way for other languages, I chose Arabic before I deleted the app, and it was similar. I am a beginner in french, but the beginner option is far too easy for me and intermediate is the same. I got a question with two options that were correct, technically, but it marked me as wrong. It seems that this app just takes words from the language and inserts it into the same lessons used for all of the languages. Not good for learning languages, look elsewhere.

Not learning + charging me and no where to cancel

This program had a lot to say about itself and I was roped in thinking I could easily learn Hindi. Unfortunately the lesson are too easy and too hard, and neither of the styles has been working in helping me to learn. Also within inquiring with native Hindi speakers the phrases and words taught are not how they actually speak. Additionally there is no where in the app for me to cancel and as I’m not even logged in I assumed I was on the free trial and didn’t realize it would be charging me. Which makes this app disappointing on all fronts. If anyone knows how to cancel the program so I don’t have to dispute the monthly charges monthly that would be much appreciated.

A joke

I speak 5 languages fluently so I’d say I’m a seasoned language learner. I’ve used numerous language programs including but not limited to; Pimsleur, Rosetta Stone, Duolingo, etc, etc. I tried the first few lessons of Korean and if I had not already studied Korean for several weeks previously, I wouldn’t have been able to make heads or tails of it, though I selected ‘beginner’. Perhaps I’m missing something or didn’t use it enough to get the hang of it. If that’s the case I hope to hear from the developer.

Great program

Could be better

You're not allowed to navigate backwards to lessons you may have missed which then penalizes you so that you can't take the weekly quiz. Yesterday, I got an error message that there was a problem and "try again later". I did, several times during the day but never able to access the lesson. So now, I can't go back to it and I won't get to take the weekly quiz? The difficulties in navigating make it no fun. And if it's not fun, why bother?

Very good layout and chatbot feature, but that’s all. If you really want to go deep and definitely learn a new language forget this app. It doesn’t teach anything about grammar in the free version. I downloaded the app to learn Italian, and there are many other apps and websites out there for people interested in learn proper Italian. If you just want to use the chatbot feature and increase the vocabulary, this app might be helpful though.
