LabTimerPhD is now available. It has all the same functionality as LabTimer. If you like LabTimer, please consider picking up LabTimerPhD! I'll use the suggestions on LabTimerPhD for future changes. All updates will be applied to both applications.
***NEWS***

The look and feel of LabTimer is designed to emulate that of standard lab timers, providing quick access to count-down timers and repeat runs. LabTimer is not just good for the lab, though - it is also convenient for cooking, medication timing, working out, and child timeouts.

LabTimer has the following features:
- Four timers, individually configurable as count-up or alarming count-down
- Large display and buttons
- Display in Hours : Minutes : Seconds (limit above 1000 hours)
- Customizable text labels for each timer
- Small icons describing the state of all timers
- Disables iPod sleep, keeping your timer running and visible
- Designed to satisfy the lab needs of my molecular biologist wife

Count-down timers each:
- Display the projected finish time
- Alarm for one minute
- After the alarm, display the time elapsed since finish in red
- Repeat the last count-down by:
-- pressing clear while the timer is paused
-- pressing start/stop twice after the timer has finished

The iPhone currently prevents background processes, so LabTimer cannot alarm if the application is not running. However, the screen can be locked while the timers are running. The alarm also plays over and does not interrupt any playing music. While this will finally let you keep your noise-isolating headphones on during long incubations, please remember to experiment responsibly.

There are many timers and stopwatches on the App Store, but they did not fulfill my (or my wife's) needs. We're now using LabTimer, and we hope you will too.

LabTimer is free and will remain free. I've created LabTimerPhD, a pay app with identical features, if you'd like to contribute to future development. I haven't seen anyone else doing this and it seems like an interesting way of handling donations. :)

Please let me know what you think and how LabTimer can be improved, either via a review or the e-mail address on the website.

Thanks for looking!

Nothing else like it.

Fantastic and useful app. I’ve never found another app that works as well or has all the same features. Essential if you need to keep track of multiple countdowns. Thanks to the dev for updating so that it can live on!

Good app, can be better

I like the upgrade that works in background. The only drawback is it cannot beep in background mode.

Timer

This is a nice fast to setup and use timer. Be aware, as was mentioned there is no background timer, but the time is still correct. I burned 2 dinner items. I know better now. But it does work great!!! Good job.

This is a great timer!

One suggestion - add a landscape orientation timer for this, even if it's only visible as one timer. I set my iPad on landscape all the time, and I would love to be able to use this in that orientation.

Excellent and simple

A near perfect timer for me. Trying to see if I can change the alarms to one from my phone then it will be perfect! Highly recommended.

Finally!

Been looking for a simple multi-timer. This is perfect. Thank you!!

Lab Timer

Good app, not yet great... could use some minor tweaking IE: direct key entry of times (count up, down and combinations), and selectable tenths, hundredths and metric seconds (1 second=1024ms) and landscape orientation. The color-coding is excellent (could be assignable?) and white-on-black or color-on-black selections would make it ★★★★★★ and indispensable! ❦

Great count up/down timer - 4 timers really
TexasTunesDAL

Not sure why this isn't a 4 or 5 star app. It has 4 timers that can be set to count up or down. When complete the app emits a Loud and lasting beep. Plus the app is FREE - what do people want - an app that taps them on the back when the time is up??

more sounds?
Ignatius_J_Reilly

The only real enhancement I can think of would be some choice of different alarm sounds. I can imagine situations where a different sound for each timer might be good. Also it would be neat if you could just have the screen flash in addition to or instead of a sound, for situations where quiet is desirable. But for free? This is great.

This app is practically perfect!

I ADORE this app! I work in a government chemistry lab and this app is perfect for my job!! I almost always have several stages of my experiments going simultaneously and this app has been a godsend to help me keep track of all of them. My co-workers have even started asking me to set timers for their experiments!
