Good News Reporting

suzannemariet

I think the articles are informative and I like the maps when they talk about an area. They give names whenever possible. Thanks for not giving commentaries but just reporting the news.

I go to KSL for National news. The others are so one sided. I don’t even live in Utah.

Program change

I do enjoy watching the KSL app in the mornings for traffic, weather, and top stories. It is irritating that I have to go out of the app, then back in again at 6:00 am to continue watching the same programming with commercials, which causes me to miss that traffic and weather report.

Over-moderated and bias

Couchfu Master

They wont ever post your comments unless they agree with your opinion. Out of the 5 messages I posted recently, none of them passed the ksl audit even though nothing illegal or negative was contained. Don't read their bias reports and don't support their unconstitutional rejection of free speech. Update - still going strong with a 0% comment approval.

Reliable

I can always count on KSL to provide timely and reliable news. I appreciate an organization that is not trying to exploit the news for its own political gain.

Moderators need to offer feedback

The app is fine with a few big exceptions. Here are some suggestions to improve the app and the way it is administered. Please consider utilizing push notifications when censoring comments. Take the comment board guidelines, 1. Assign each rule a number value. 2. Program hot keys to correspond to each rule. 3. If a commenter violates a rule, the moderator can censor the comment by pressing the hot key assigned to the rule which was broken. This should simultaneously send a push notification back to the commenter letting them know which rule they violated. (It would be a good idea to give commenters one chance to edit a censored comment, they need to know which rule they have broken) This should improve the dialog, and provide a potential solution to the dozens of one star reviews who allege bias in the way moderators censor comments. This may also provide you a tool to track moderators. This is a quick way for them to show a level of accountability rather than simply striking a comment. Lastly you could take this one step further. Instead of “flag as abuse” (in the app) add a pull down with the same numbered rules I suggested for your moderators. Allow readers to provide feedback to comments they see from others and apply similar feedback as they may have received from push notifications (should they have violated a rule). Absolute integrity should be the goal of your moderators. I have quietly tested your moderators many times. I have replied to comments made by your regular liberal commenters: pioneer47, Utahguy47, wollybugger and a few others. I intentionally bring my comment to a less harsh tone than theirs, include no @, single nobody out... bam it gets moderated. An hour or two later I can comment on a non political article making a similarly worded disagreement. No sweat it gets right through. I’m not a Democrat or Republican. I’ve noticed if I speak out against Trump or Romney, I’ve never been moderated. If you are an organization who is absolutely dependent on the 1st Amendment, and you are going to censor people, you must keep your censorship unbiased, if not, how can you look in the mirror and say “I have integrity”? If you don’t care about integrity, what on earth are you doing in this business?

“Cold”

Enough! There is is much more to cover and investigate. It’s over, please stop with the never ending story of Susan Powell. This needs to end.

KSL News Review

I enjoy reading the news most morning. I don’t like some of the negative political crap. You report the news as it happens. I understand that everything doesn’t always have a positive ending. I do like your down to earth stories instead of politics all the time. Keep up the good work.

Good news with some issues

The app is generally good. The news is fairly unbiased but sometimes a little corny. I feel KSL tries to tie every story through the world to Utah. They haven’t been doing it as much over the last year but it is still there. I like the World section though sometimes the entire article says exactly what you see as the preview//title. I also use the listen live feature as well as a few others. Good sports and other news sections where you can filter the type of sports or sub topic you want to hear about. I kind of wish there was a report news feature. I get annoyed by the comments section because I feel like my comments are omitted. In that way I feel like they are trying to be PC and not offend people. It is both a good and a bad thing because it curbs what people can do but also silences voices. I want more out of the weather portion. The KSL weather app isn’t sufficient either. The weather app on my phone gives the weather for the day better. If KSL did the weather for the day on an hourly basis for different areas, but also gave expected quantities of precipitation, severity of weather, expected UV index, as well as a visual map in relation to the data... well if it had that it would be the only weather plan I would use for Utah. I still like the app and I have hope they will continue to improve it.
