KeyGrinder uses a simple algorithm to build secure passwords out of easily-remembered information. All you need is a simple word or phrase, and KeyGrinder does the rest.

- No need to remember complex passwords
- Passwords aren't stored in the app or on our servers
- Use the same password to generate multiple secure passwords
- Or use a different password every time for extra security
- Our algorithm means that the same address/password pair will create identical secure passwords within the app and on our website
- Lose or forget your iPhone? Grind your passwords again at keygrinder.com
- No opportunity for data corruption
- Maintain a list of favorite URLs
- Passwords are automatically copied to the pasteboard for faster use
- Included bookmarklet makes grinding passwords even easier
- Turn on Speed Mode and launch the browser immediately when you tap "create"
- Get in and get out with KeyGrinder's simple, elegant interface
- Inspired by and compatible with Stanford University's PwdHash project

KeyGrinder makes it easier than ever to practice good password policy.

Simple and useful
jakep36

As a user of 1password, I often explain to people the importance of having different passwords for all their sites. They usually respond with "how do I easily do that?". This is how. A simple elegant design that solves a problem that I already have. I still use 1password for the ease of autofilling, but I will switch to KeyGrinder for generating and never be stuck without my password when on another machine again.

General Overview
KennfrmNY

It seems like a good idea, but wouldn't it make sense to have a demo or user guide someplace? Even their website has zero info. In the iPad app store there's a button on all their software offerings saying "Application Support". Click on it for this app, there's nothing! Under the circumstances I doubt I would use it since I have no idea what or how it does it!

Different take on password generation
Slant

I'm used to 1Password, so this seemed like it might simply duplicate the functionality provided there. While it can generate passwords and store them, KeyGrinder's strength is in the speed and consistency of the process! I found 1Password to be a tad cumbersome to deal with on a daily basis while this app is clearly geared toward only password creation and access, so its much faster to get in and out of. Nice!

I don't get it

Confusing

This app needs documenting, plus a few examples.

well integrated

pwdhash algorithm identical; nice history to save typing

Brilliant

Elegant solution so strong passwords that you dont need to remember. Available anywhere, never stored nor transmitted and completely dynamic passwords are a must and Keygrinder helps do that in the easiest way. Thank you for this, it has changed my password habits forever.

Does not work
Jimmydann

Does not work. Never generates a password.

Works as advertised. It would be nice to be able to save a password so it doesn't have to be entered in, but that is far less secure. The few negative reviews indicate that those particular users were confused with this tool. If you are unfamiliar, research pwdhash.

Great
Prince_Jellyfish

Great tool! Compatible with Stanford Super Pwdhash. One complaint: wish you could copy hashed passwords to clipboard (unless I'm being dense and missing how). Developer: ideal interface would be similar to Google Authenticator -- click and hold automatically copies to clipboard without a second click. Otherwise great app!
