I was having similar problems with the app described by others, basically was not showing anything. Today I deleted the app, reloaded it, then reset my password and it works again. I've been happy with the app. Been using it for over a year. I don't have a strong need for a hot spot so I do not have a monthly plan. I paid for 10GB months ago. I use it occasionally. It's there when I need it without a monthly premium to pay. Speed is ok. Streaming videos can cause it to buffer occasionally. I mostly just web surf and check email while away from home. I don't have an unlimited cell phone data plan so Karma is a great complement when I'm away from home and I want to use my tablet or laptop to web surf. I was a little disappointed when Karma did away with their monthly unlimited data option, but it is understandable that their system may not be setup to accommodate the high usage that unlimited service invites. If there's a way to adapt your systems to make this an option again it would probably be very popular.


App doesn't work, company didn't follow through on product

Since this is a review for the app, I will talk about the app. It doesn't work anymore, the end. As far as the company goes, they didn't follow through on the advertised plan. Rather than offer lower prices on the capped data they were selling, they only gave a limited discount. I was really hoping this would be a viable alternative for our needs. I was sorely mistaken.


App does not connect to device

App doesn't connect to wifi device. Service is incredibly uneven. Frequently have to hard reset device in order to get it to work. Hope karma catches this company.

When I try to log into the app, it tells me my network connection is offline. Clearly that's wrong, because I was able to submit this review. Deleting & reinstalling the app doesn't help. The device itself is disappointing too. Coverage is not what Karma's maps says it is, and it never shows you the signal strength (the 3 rings just glow in rotation). The app & hot spot itself used to be great, I don't understand how they made everything worse.

Even when I am successfully connected to the mykarma device via my iPad, the app never shows anything.

Delete & Reinstall App to get back to 4-stars

Thanks to user cflor69 for the tip to delete and reinstall the app. Like some other users, for me, the karma app got stuck and would not update. I was tempted to write yet another one star review until I read that tip. Now, the app performs as expected and updates all data as before.


High Expectations NOT Met

Have been thru both incarnations - and could have set up my own service for the money I've spent (and lest I forget: letting them use my money to develop device that left us with another useless piece of electronics - not even a buyback/recycle program). Perhaps cheaper offices than Venice Beach (my home back in the rent-controlled late 70s) might be in order. The original sharing concept seems dead at this point; and even Verizon allows me to rollover unused minutes. And even when "new" device came out - and mine did not work and, having worked in IT had isolated problem to the cord (having lost many hours of communicating with idiots - too good to actually talk to me), I was told (surprise lol) - cord was problem. Did they send a replacement cord - no. When I harangued them - was told they would send cord (I was in the midst of selling a home while going back and forth between TX & IL to help my folks: not much extra time on my hands but sure needed that KarmaGo to work!) - have yet to see any cord; I know it's not a high priced item - but that's part of my problem! I had figured out problem yet was forced to go thru the reset thru hole with paper clip etc.; I'd done all that - duh. And now - when they have a whole lot of my money from unused online time - yet again having problems with connecting. My advice: use and purchase with caution. And don't expect much in the way of support. Peace.

Total ripoff. I was told today that I have until June to use the data I have bought on their refuel plan or I will lose it all. I will have to pay just under $3 a mont for the privilege of keeping my grandfathered plan. This company need to just go out of business already. It needs to just die. It was great in the beginning. Really worked for me as I am a nomad and live in an RV and travel where I want when I want. But for the last year or so Karma has no longer been what I bought into when I pre-ordered my Go and waited a long time for it to come. I do t know why they couldn't make a go of it with the products they started with but please, take my advice. Don't. There are other better solutions out there.


DONT BUY THIS PRODUCT

When first offered you could purchase data that "NEVER EXPIRES" Now you have to pay a monthly fee just to maintain your "NEVER EXPIRES" data. And on top of that they now throttle the speed so that the device is next to useless. These guys are crooks.
