Good but some painful limitations

First, there is virtually nothing to get you started. Many apps when you run the first time will give you a quick overview. Not Journi. You are left to poke around and hope you figure it out. There is NO IN-APP HELP. The you tube channel has videos, however there is no sound and they chose to record them at a pace that is only helpful if you already know how to use the app. The app would greatly benefit from a brief introduction. For example, when you creat a new Journi it starts you off with a map. I spent 5 minutes trying to get the map to show the correct location. It turns out the app will do this automatically which is nice, but there is no way to know that in advance. Second, and this is the most limiting in my opinion. There are no photo captions. So, if you add a stop in France and add what Journi calls a “moment”, you can give the moment a title and description, but if you upload 10 pics, it will just show the grouping of pics with no way to indicate what each pic is. Since the main reason to do a trip journal is to preserve the memories of the trip, I don’t know why there isn’t a way to note what the pics are of. Some pics are obvious. But others are not. For example I added pics of specific things during a visit to the Louvre. I have no way to add a description of what the pics are and why I chose those pics out of the hundreds I could have chosen. This one thing will likely lead me to choose another app. FYI I opted for the premium service and it also does not allow for photo captions.

Would be 5 stars if video could be added

Great app for quick and easy travel journaling. Allows collaboration between different travelers and makes it easy to share with friends and family. Please add video option soon!!!!

Great app

I share my trip diary and photos with family and friends. They love it. Then once home I do a photo book. I love that it includes my diary. I have 8 now. From all over the world.

Thrilled

We took a 3 week trip to Europe and I purchased the premium package so that I could work offline when needed. I made a point each day to keep up with what that day brought and journi made it very easy to do this. My friends and family were able to follow what we were doing and my friends that we travelled with were also able to collaborate and add their photos. I have made other photo books that took me hours to put together as well as trying to remember the fun facts as well as memories could be a lot of work. Writing as we went along kept things fresh. Was able to send off for my book immediately and could not be more thrilled with the quality of it. If there is any improvement that I could list, it would be to be able to manipulate the pictures myself and put them where I want them in a page and also a note section where I could put gems down that I couldn’t finish with until the end of the day just to help me remember but these are minor compared to what I got.

Videos?

Wish I could upload videos

A trip countdown

So far so good. I started using this app back in 2016. I find myself starting to use it more often. I really love the daily journal. It’s awesome! However I have some trips coming up in the future and would like a countdown clock to use while waiting to take the trip.

Fun and Easy to use

Oboely annoyed

I am really enjoying using this app! It is super simple to use and you can get everything ready offline. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is if you upload 10 pics you can’t put comments on individual pics, you can’t upload more than 10 to a group, and you can’t upload videos. Otherwise, this is great!!’

Good as long as you don’t want to relive your trip

I found the journi app very easy to use during a trip to Europe. Although integrating photos that I took with my DSLR required me to upload them to my iPhone photos before I could put them in journi, the logging and time stamping went well. However, once you finish your trip, going back to review it is very tedious. It can only be reviewed on the app or by purchasing a printed book. In my case, that book was nearly €90. I would like to be able to transfer the journey descriptions and photos to something like a PDF file that can be viewed on my computer, and shared with friends, but that doesn’t seem to be an option. I took this trip more than two years ago, and despite several upgrades to the app in the interim, reliving the trip is still only available on the app or by buying a printed book. As a disappointing result, I have not been able to share this trip with friends and family at all (getting the journi app just to review my trip on the small screen on their phone really isn’t a reasonable option). Unless journi comes up with a better sharing option, I will never use it for another trip again (and I haven’t used it on trips taken since that trip just for that reason)

Very good, hope for even better features

This app is great so far with our first Journi. I found it very easy to use, share and collaborate. In the future, I would really like to see better integration of panorama photos, maybe even videos and more categories related to families and finer differentiation within activity categories, e.g. nature could contain beach, lake, waterfall, meadow,... activities could contain hiking, fishing, snow boarding, horseback riding, ...

Does the job, but nothing special

I like this app, it pulls photos and shows you on the map, but I originally thought it would pin the map where I’ve been and then like those pins to the journis it doesn’t, the maps are within the journis and it just organizes the photos, I’ve seen that a lot, it has neat features, but most I’ll never use and the thinks I wanted it for, organizing my photos and providing a “where you’ve been” map it has kinda done, just not any better than Apple already does.
