Always Needs to Reconnect with Device

Eddistein

I'm not sure why, but it seems like whenever I have my Bluetooth turned off before I go into the app, I have to reconnect the device. Getting the reconnecting to work is frustrating because it involves a series trial-and-error restarts between my phone and Joule. The app keeps telling me Joule is connected to another device (yea, mine!) when it is not.

Waste of time. Ad not App

If you're looking for sodus vide recipes don' waste your time here?

It would be great if it worked!

Even though Joule has great reviews compared to Anova due to the design, it doesn't work properly and makes the use of it extremely frustrating. Joule app is well designed but it simply won't make Joule work from the start. I set the temperature, click on the start on my phone screen, and it says it's working, when in reality Joule doesn't even turns on and the temp is dropping! I don't even know how many times I started from zero, disconnecting the device and connecting again. Mind you that Joule just "work" with the app. So you are trapped if the app doesn't work. Beyond frustrated. Will return "the well designed but useless Joule" today.

Not a great app

Hairyott3r

I'm a big fan of ChefSteps but not thrilled with the new direction. I already had my own sous vide machine way before Joule, so I use the app for recipes and guides. The search function is broken, it seems to be disconnected from the apps own guides, it only gives me hits from chefsteps website. Scrolling is laggy and commonly registers swipes as clicks meaning as I scroll through guides half the time it has me clicking into guides I don't want. Guides themselves are decent, although in general a pet peeve of mine is that chefsteps often favors form over function. just give me the info.. if it wasn't for the great content and admirable results I've gotten following their guides, I would not even be bothering. This app also does not support Gboard.

THIS APP TAKES UP TOO MUCH SPACE

The Joule is cool but this app is terrible. Why does it take up more space on my phone than every other app including ones used daily? 1 star until that is resolved.

Interactive and Nerdtastic

The feeling when cooking reaches a nerd level that a pocket protector is wanted.

The App Drives Me Crazy

ASapGirl

I love my sous vide tool but the app is more than I care to be bothered with. There's no way to not get trapped into receiving notifications. It takes up a ton of space on my phone. And it thinks I'm new every time I use it. I just want to rein in my tool!! Enough already...

No take backs

Chef steps will give you a recipe, ten move it to their "premium" members only section. If the business model was having the premium product, fine. If it was freemium, fine. But it's neither. It's the drug dealer get you hooked then jack up the price model. Don't buy a joule, and don't waste your time with the app if you don't have a joule.

Love this app

Know-naim

I love my sous vide but was looking for some new recipes and ideas and found them here. FYI, the cheesecake is amazing...easy, quick, tasty. The temp guides have been useful. I love the tone and the content of this app. For me, the app isn't intuitive, but it just took me a moment to figure it out.

Ok so far...

Just downloaded and used for the first couple times. It is a pretty app but could use some tweaks... First few thoughts: 1. Delay start 2. Stop asking me to turn on Bluetooth when I am already connected to the device via wifi 3. Allow renaming of "manual cook" in history
