I want to like this device better than Anova but I hate that I have to involve my phone. Why can’t this be an add on but still put a tiny display in the device itself. I only need to control temperature.

Sous vide is great. The app could use some work trying to sign in and it just sits there says still working forever

Can't search anything, and on top of that I now need to create an account just to use the device I paid for?

The app is slow, unstable, unreliable, crashes frequently and frustrating to use. Joule takes what could have been an enjoyable cooking experience and turned it into a nightmare.

I have an iPhone 7 with updates software. The most recent version of the app has made this useless. Lags and crashes constantly. I know it will improve, but it has been approaching a month of nonfunctional use. Let's hope an update comes soon.

I've been a premium member for a couple of years and waited with great anticipation (and perhaps a soupçon of frustration) for the Joule to finally arrive. Man was it worth the wait! I have two other immersion circulators by different companies, this one tops them all in my opinion. The small size makes it easier to put in the pot along with all my sous vide goodies, not taking up a third of the surface area like my other two. The convenience and visual doneness guide in the app are terrific, my results tend to come quite close to what they show. The recipes, as expected, are spot on and always come out perfectly. That said, I have a couple of items that I would like to see addressed. To the point of earlier reviewers of this latest update, it did go wonky on me and all of the Joule recipes and visual doneness guides disappeared. Rather than rip them with a 1 star review, I read the helpful and responsive replies from the Team and deleted and reinstalled the app, Presto! All fixed. Keep in mind, it is unusual in and of itself for someone to be that on top of their customers feedback! I've always appreciated that about them. I have noticed the app does lag when searching and loading recipes, I can only assume this is due to the content rich environment they have laid before us. My only other item, more of a humble suggestion really, would be to add the ability for the user to flag and bookmark their favorites so they can quickly go back to them, particularly if like me they have their go-to nightly recipes and like to have them at the ready. Thanks again to an amazing group out there in Seattle bringing this world to light for the rest of us!

I'm on a fairly new iPhone 7. When I first got my Joule in February, the app was perfect. As a designer, I actually showed off how great the app was. Now, it's almost unusable. Even after the last update that "fixed" the bugs, it's still far and away the laggiest app on my phone. I can't search at all. Scrolling through the main screen, my frame rate drops - which I'm used to if I'm gaming on my pc, but with a cooking app, that's just a mess. So, the joule as a whole, with a working app, gets 5 stars. Hell, id give 10 if I could. But as this app stands, 1 star. Because I can't use the app.

The app is good for what it is. Does it's job well enough it just needs more option and recipes.
