Inspired by really good classic games like Ninja Gaiden, Super Mario and Metroid, Mystery of the J-Werewolf was designed to be as comfortable as holding an old NES controller, but also to use the modern features of iOS devices in unique ways.

A classic platformer made by someone who played lots of them. The old meets the new in this new spin on 2D sidescrollers!

"it looks good, the sound is a treat for anyone who gets off on nostalgia, it's fun to play, and it has a talking dinosaur" - Slide to Play (3 stars out of 4!)

"music to the ears of anyone who’s been waiting for a retro iOS game that actually captures the spirit of retro game design rather than plopping pixelated graphics over bare-bones gameplay" - iFanzine

This game is Retina Ready for iPhone/iPod and iPad. Sure, since it's pixel art, all you get will be larger pixels. But, hey: at least we're safe from horrible, blurry interpolation!

==================================

As of 1.06, J-Werewolf has 3 touch-screen control options and supports Joypad and some other popular joystick hardware. One of these options should really fit your needs. PLEASE, try them all before writing a review. The controls in J-Werewolf are fine!

Very amusing
Insidexml

A very fun and interesting game. Nice and humorous dialogue, interesting concept, casual combat system. Controls take some time to get used to, but pretty simple. Something like a map would be nice, though.

Love It!
The Real &e

I feel like I need to blow in the cartridge before inserting it into the console when I play this game. Just like Metroid or Castelvania you have to remember your path instead of relying on a in game map to hold your hand through the game. I'll be buying this tonight.

Fun but awkward controls

I really wanted to like this game but there's something bad about the controls.

Finally
Goggles999

Finally a game worthy of classic roots. Super fun...not mindbendingly difficult, easy controls and smart dialogue. One of the rare app store features that i actually want to play from start to finish. In future updates I would like to see: more variety in music, and volume controls...especially for the sound effects! Those are too loud at this time. Great work!

Very nice!

I thought I would rate the free version as well. You can tell this game was lovingly crafted. It shows in the gfx and sfx. Download now.

Awesome game

ok
icedfate

its like a combination of metroid, super mario bros and castlevania...but....the lite version does not let me see enough to decide if i really want to pay for this. i am sick of "freemium" games that just copy off of each other and all the developers make the same kind of game, they all look different but are all the same. this game is different and it feels like you are playing a real old school nes game and i might consider it if i had a better idea of how much content there actually is in this game

Very fun

Pretty good, but could be better
Okamicat

I liked the game, but I think it would be best if we didn't have to pay money to continue the game. Also, there's a glitch that causes the music to not play for some reason, even though the settings say that it's on. Those are my only two complaints. Keep up the good work!
