This app requires iWavit hardware for the iPhone, iPad & iPod touch. It will NOT work without it!! See http://www.thinkoptics.com.

FEATURES:
This remote acts exactly like a regular Xbox 360 IR remote. You will be able to adjust volume, control the media center, navigate content, and essentially do anything you would be able to do with normal large physical IR Remote for the Xbox360.

Simply plug the iWavit attachment into the iPhone, and press the screen buttons to send IR commands from the iWavit to the Xbox360. The app contains 4 screens that you can swipe left-right. This ensures that you have easy-to-hit large buttons while still giving you access to all the IR buttons of a standard Xbox remote. Another nice benefit of an iWavit virtual Remote is that the buttons are easily seen in the dark, so no need to turn on the lights in the room just to adjust the volume on your Xbox.

BACKGROUND:

What are iWavit Remotes?

The iWavit is a new accessory for the iPhone, iPad & iPod touch. It provides additional hardware capabilities to the iPhone with a goal of being able to turn the iPhone into a wide variety of different Remote Controls and Input Devices. iWavit Remotes are apps which provide different user interfaces that turn the iPhone into different "virtual remotes" which are metaphors for real physical devices.

What new hardware capabilities does the iWavit bring?

The iWavit accessory is a physical plug-in device that attached to the iPhone. It also comes with a plug & play USB Dongle with an IR Lightbar. Some or all of the iWavit features may be used by different apps. The iWavit includes

1) An IR emitter for sending IR signals and controlling TVs and DVD,
2) An IR detector for learning IR codes from real remotes,
3) A patented Wavit 3D Tracker, which allows for absolute tracking of the iPhone's position and orientation in 3D space, making it ideal for use as an DirectPoint 3D air mouse for PC.
4) A wireless PC microphone for controlling a PC or Mac via voice commands, or simple for making VOIP calls on your PC. (this is separate from the iPhone's microphone)
5) Wireless 2.4GHz Plug & Play USB dongle for controlling PC/Mac/Linux machines. Simply plug it in, and you are ready to go. No software installation is required.

What iWavit apps can I expect to find?

There will be IR Remote apps for controlling many different devices, and there will be a remote control editor that will allow you to build your own custom remotes. There will also be virtual remotes for controlling PC/Mac applications such as PowerPoint, Keynote, Front Row, and Windows Media Center to name just a few. There will be apps which turn the iPhone into an RF Keyboard for the PC as well as a multi-touch TrackPad and a wireless media controller for volume/playback control.

Waiting list?
MemphisR

Requires purchase of $99 ir remote attachment. Not only is it an expensive piece it also isn't available yet, you must sign up to a waiting list, for a November release. Considering the original xbox360 remote can be purchased from $20-30, Seems a bit ridiculous, Cool idea tho!
