It's amazing how much one developer can improve the experience of using an app. This app doesn't use its own media player, but rather uses the native iOS Media Player. If Google has a problem with that, then they should remove support for watching videos on the mobile site. This app has everything I want. A dark mode that doesn't roll out in phases, quality changer, feels like a stock app, and allows me to easily view my favorites. The sec has done some amazing work here ?

I loathe watching YouTube on my phone. Between the annoying pop ups for YouTube Red or pre-video polls, irrelevant ads and constant UI changes, I rarely found myself bored enough to check anything while mobile. Discovered this app via Reddit and decided to pull the trigger. I have access to my channels and subs, a place to save videos, and even a cozy spot for when I let my kid watch some stuff. Two things I would love however, one of which cost the app a star. First, and I know this is minor, but the app icon. I really dislike white icons and would much rather use the one depicted in the App Store. Apps even have the ability to give the user an option now. Second, and much more important, landscape video. I lock my devices orientation and having to unlock to use landscape video really frustrates me. At least the official app rotated to use landscape when full screen. This is a problem many apps with video content suffer from (looking at you MLB At Bat). Force full screen to landscape (or at least give user the option) and I’ll add the fifth star. Bonus points for icon options. UPDATE: And boom, there it is. Within days the dev acted on the requested changes. Five stars!
