Great interactive learning tool companion.

This app was very frustrating to use as it was unclear as to how to get it to work with the itikes system. It shows it is waiting for the device and seems like it stalls. Finally I discovered it was actually it is waiting for the kids to actually DO SOMETHING with the board. As soon as you initialize an activity the app starts right up. The splash screen on the app would be a great place for the developers to indicate you have to actually start playing with the board in order for the app to actually start. My only real complaint with the app is the huge amount of data space it requires. Not a giant deal when used with the iPad but with my iPhone's heavy daily use and constant updating of cloud docs and photos a 300+ mb app is too much wasted space. Also the itikes board comes with adapters for phones and iPods but not the iPad...and it doesn't have an adapter for the new iPod (5th gen) which is the other device at our house with enough disk space to warrant leaving the app installed.

App and Toy are Junk

App does not work at all. I would not by another iTike toy again.

FINALLY figured it out

Solution to tHe map app always crashing! First, you have to have the itikes board on and the kid must be playing around on it or it shuts off too early. Second, if you have any restrictions set on your phone then the app will crash immediately. You MUST have the camera turned on. I kept lots of restrictions on my phone for when my kids 4 and 5 used it. Then when I turned these off temporarily the app worked perfectly fine. So, no restrictions for the camera. Third, on a side note, if the pen keeps falling out you can buy an adapter that makes the pen longer and less likely to pull out. Though why they had to make it remove able in the first place is a serious design flaw. Finally, though I as an adult wanted my kids to learn something, they all found the overall experience a bit boring. So this whole thing does catch quite a bit of shelf time with no one playing it.

Does Not Work On First Gen iPad

The app crashes every time I try to open it. If I'm lucky, I could see past the "iTikes" loading screen and see the little boy and his dog for a second before getting sent back to the home screen.

Well...

In theory, this should be an excellent, wow-producing product. In reality, it is a flop. Sometimes switches between subjects, for example, looking at the sun and get an image of a panther on the iPad. Can be used on its own without the tech extension, but interactive in the 21st century should mean that you can interact, yes?

worst app and toy ever

the app just sits on the opening page. nothing happens at all!

It works well

I am a nanny for a 3 year old girl and I bought this for her as an educational gift. After reading the reviews, I was nervous it was a waste...but so far it has been working great! It is fine on its own, but it easily pairs up to my iPhone 4 and that makes it much more informative and interactive. It makes learning fun for her. It seems that (at least for me) itikes worked through its issues.

Itikes is behind

You advertise that the app works with or without the toy, but it does not appear to be true with the gen1 iPad. It works with my i5, but the point was for me to be able to use my phone and my child use their iPad. It also appears this has been an issue for years with no update or addressing of the situation. Poor customer service, false advertising. Remove gen1 from your advertising if you don't intend for the app to be fully functional with the gen1 iPad. Don't lag on your updates.

Fail

Crashes at load screen on iPod 4. Not much more to add to how disappointing this app is. Apple should have this removed.
