Payments are charged to your iTunes account at the confirmation of purchase. Your subscription will automatically renew 24 hours before the end of each current period (monthly or annually) unless auto-renew is turned off. Auto-renewal can be turned off at any time within the user's Apple ID Account Settings -> Manage Subscriptions.

Live chat customer service is very frustrating to deal with. Kept getting disconnected from the representative prior to resolution of any issues. Even at Queue position 1, I was waiting extended periods just to finish with the original issues.
