2.0 is Great!

Pajica

Ink On 2.0 has a cleaner, more efficient appearance while adding new features that make it more flexible to accommodate the needs of different kinds of writers. I'm more concerned with tracking time than word count and the enhanced timers in 2.0 is perfect for me. The goals, stats and calendar features let me see how productive and consistent I've been, which keeps me motivated. Ink On is STILL the best tracking app for writers that I have found. Also, support from the developer is second to none.

Crashing makes it unusable

mzzta

The latest update, at least on my iPhone 7, crashes whenever I try to make a new project. Can't start a new project so I can no longer use this app. Used to be great. Hoping a fix is in the works.

Update will corrupt/delete your data

Siri-but-not-Rearry

The other review is a plant. The update will corrupt your data, and an attempt to restore said data in order to salvage months of entries will just delete what you have. "Restore from server" is an option whether or not you've backed up your data to their servers. Selecting said option will delete your now-corrupted local data (not that it makes a difference as your data's now useless anyway). If you're ok with the following two options feel free to download: 1. Save your data locally and hope an update won't destroy it 2. Backup your data to their servers and hope that a backend update won't destroy it. Addendum: Some tracking apps allow you to email yourself your data as a .csv file. As the data-security of this app is hazy, I'd recommend they add such a feature to make it useable.

Great Tracking App

Meadowmirth

This app has helped me track my writing better than any other method I've used. I especially love the option to choose 'revise' and add notes about the project you're working on.

Disappointing Update

Meg with Four

I've been using Ink On for almost a year and loved its simplicity and encouraging features that keep me writing (tracking word count in multiple ways). But the summer update's been disappointing! Problems I've seen: -messed up my overall time totals (it suddenly says I've recorded over 200,000 writing hours) -messed up my per hour time totals so I can no longer track accurately how many words per hour I'm getting -no longer fills in the chair with purple (one of the features I'd loved) -randomly uses two, three, four or five places after the decimal point in some stats which is confusing (ex: 13.3637 hours written this month). Just limit it to one or two maximum places -just today, it changed the goal lines on my graphs for no reason and now the graphs are useless Please put out another update with fixes!! All of these bugs are making me angry at the app and tempted to search for a different tool to use :(

Very useful.

This is the only writers’ app I could find that allows me to see at a glance whether I’ve made progress on my WIP on a daily basis. It’s motivational to mark off each day on a calendar, whether I’m planning, writing or revising. Helps me stay connected to the novel even when life gets in the way.

Awesome app

NotCBlue

Been using it to track my monthly progress for awhile now. The updates have made it amazing.

Love the visuals

Ochun517

Great app and motivated to write with the visuals showing progress. Developer was quick to assist when I did not properly set up the app! Definitely recommend this app.

Pretty, but Tracking Options Need Improvement

KimRWriter

I purchased this app today, and I’m still trying to decide if I made the right choice. The interface is very visually appealing, and the simple menu options make for a clean experience. When compared to apps I’ve used in the past, I far prefer the look and feel of this app. My biggest gripe so far is I can’t set a target completion date. I was able to plug in a word count goal—monthly word count is an option as well—but these aren’t particularly helpful to me when I am trying to meet a deadline. I won’t even plug these in because I have no desire to track/view them. I’d really like to know (like some of the other apps have) how many words I need to write per day to hit my target date. Also, it would be nice to have an option to add an opening word balance to any existing projects so data isn’t skewed. I plugged in my current works in progress, and the stats/calendar make me seem wildly productive when that’s not really the case. I bought it, so I won’t be deleting it. However, I may continue to primarily use another free app with the features I like (it just doesn’t look as nice and I can only do one project at a time) until this one has more relevant and helpful tracking options.
