A must-have for Hue color lighting system owners

I love music and now I can easily sync these awesome Hue lights with Apple Music? = Heck yeah! Our kids are dancing to their favorite tracks. Their mother and I are doing the same! What a cool way to spend some “down time.”

Money well spent

If you use Apple Music or Spotify, this is pretty much the best music Hue sync out there. (And I’ve gone through all of them in Apple store!) Syncs beautifully with most songs (..not sure why some Hindi songs don’t sync but others do). I really wish that they come out with Saavn and Gaana support soon as well.

Must have

Seaportron

Great idea. You can use your Spotify also through sonos system. Works well. I wish they would have some scene effects like thunderstorms, fireplace etc. The live chat support is amazing!! I had a question. Response was super fast and fix the issue!

It interferes with the audio quality when connected to Bluetooth speakers.

Best app to sync lights to music

Bed boys 72856348615284

I got this app after trying out a few others to get my smart lights to go with my music. This one was by far the best because it analyzes the music that you are playing instead of trying to listen to it through your phone and work that way which is what I found all other apps do. I have Spotify premium (I doubt not having premium would cusses problems) and Philips Hue lights and it works perfectly. Only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is because it is a free app but the only way for it to really do anything is if you buy the one time premium fee of 5 dollars so that is unexpected when you open it. If you don’t get it you can only connect one light so it is pretty useless, although it does allow you to test you setup first without buying the app and then it not working. All that said, it is DEFINITELY worth the five dollars for the app if you look at it that way.

Why isn’t Prime Music an option?

I just bought this app and it’s fun messing around with it so far. I just don’t understand why with all the streaming music services available why this app only allows you to choose from 2. Is there a plan to add more in the future? If not hopefully there will be. Nicolas thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I really appreciate you explaining the “why”.

App affects sound quality

Hilopji

Music quality is not good when using the app. Spotify at least comes through muffled and clears up completely as soon as the app is closed

Doesn’t work

Elizaphan

Paid for the premium upgrade, lights are linked, Spotify account linked but that’s it. The lights are not showing on the app.

Will not stay connected to Hue bridge

Opus402

I have to reset the link to my Hue bridge after every 2 or 3 songs

Really great app that does what it says, but...

So I’ve been playing with this app for a few of days and my kids love it! We’ve had a dance party practically every night. It does exactly what it says and works pretty well with Apple Music. The biggest con is that to unlock more than one light you have to $4.99 in app purchase. You can’t really evaluate that app without paying for it. I didn’t mind spending the $5, EXCEPT, if my kids want it on all their devices I’ll have to pay on each one. Truth is I’ll hardly use this app, but my kids might, but I’m not sure it’s worth $20 to me. Maybe $10. The next problem is a lack of music controls within the app. If you want to pause, play or scrub your music you need to jump back to Apple Music. I think Apple made these controls available for developers to use. So adding these would be a convenient touch. Finally, this would make an outstanding APPLE TV app. The controls might need to be simplified, or possible use an iCloud shared preferences file (so the advanced settings are done on the phone/iPad), but this would be the best solution for me. The kids regularly play their dance part music on the TV.
