I Found No Advantage to Using It

Angloplayer

I purchased the Hydra App and tried it for a few weeks and could find no advantage to using it over using the native iOS 11+ camera App for still photos in zoom and low light settings. I did not take any HDR photos or any type of videos with it, so I can’t comment on those areas. I have an iPhone X and I took several hand-held photos of the same subject material with both the Hydra App and the standard iOS camera, capturing images moments apart. I took well lit daytime photos of distant buildings and mountains and I took photos in dimly lit rooms as well as outside after dusk. Having taken the sets of two photos in sequence, it was very easy to flip between them in the photo viewing App for comparison on both my iPhone and iPad. In each case, I judged that the standard iOS camera App delivered a noticeably sharper image and could find no reason to select any of the Hydra versions over the native iOS camera App versions. You can do post processing to remedy some aspects of color and lighting in a photo, but if fine detail is lacking in the source image, you can’t add it later. I visited the Hydra website and read the information there, and read the available details within the App where it is explained what Hydra does in each of the settings. I have a steady hand and nothing was offered in the explanations to improve on my technique. I tried the different resolution settings and even at the 12 MP settings, the iPhone native camera App came out the winner every time. I can’t say that Hydra may not have made some improvements that didn’t catch my attention. The bottom line is that I was hoping to get better detail in both zoom and low light photos with the Hydra App but I did not find any advantage to using it. I have deleted the App.

OPTICAL STABILIZER

Ema Lpz

PLEASE!!! MAKE AN UPDATE TO ACTIVATE THE OPTICAL STABILIZER IN VIDEO RECORDING WITH HDR!!! SO THAT THE EXCESS OF MOVEMENT IN THE RECORDING DOES NOT FEEL!!!

5 stars

I don’t ever right reviews, but this app deserves it. I went in thinking that it probably wouldn’t be any different than any other “crazy” camera app. But wow, how I was wrong. This app has changed the game. I tried it out in NYC for the higher mp shot and zoom, and I was shocked. The zoom was actually really good, and looked so much better than the stock camera apps. I love this app so much, and by the ratings, most people agree with me that this is a amazing app.

Really impressive app

J__________

I really love this app for static shots. Motion in the frame is problematic, but it's really impressive to get 32 megapixel shots out of a 12 megapixel camera.

HDR ?

Cionysus02

Like the app but HDR is not good as the subject must be still for a few seconds for it to capture proper pictures. If not a picture is all messed up. I bought this mainly because of the multi frames for HDR, but it takes a few seconds to capture. It’s useless. An update is needed.

Not 32mp

Pcdrone

The 32mp mode doesn’t do anything. The pictures are only slightly larger in storage usage and the details under zoomed Inspection is almost the same the same as a native image. Devs , please use a panorama type stitch system and use the native 2x optical zoom in new iPhones to stitch together a large 32mp or so image. Not sure if the iOS is limiting the sizes of image but I would assume if these stitched final images are saved they should be at lease twice and big as the native. Also ability to save RAW perhaps ? Thanks.

Best super sampling app

Ranger222222

This is the best app for super-sampling that I’ve used. This very easily gives you basically an *optical* zoom lens, using time to overcome the hardware limitations of your iPhone camera, instead of the traditional two pieces of glass far apart from each other found in stand alone cameras. Rather than needing a tripod or having to place your phone on a still surface, Hydra uses the small movements of your hands holding the camera to successfully supersample a high resolution image. Successfully removes the ugly iPhone rice-looking grain too. Very cool.

Question

gsbsvs

How can I use the tele lens from this app?
