The Hundred Board is a fun and educational exercise found in the Montessori classroom to help children with their counting from 1 to 100. The board and number tiles in the app are exact replicas of the classic classroom materials.
The basic task is to transfer the scrambled number tiles on the right hand side to the board in the correct order.
Activities:
- Assemble the Hundred Board in sequence using either a touch only method where the number tile moves to the board automatically, or drag and place the tiles to the board for them to snap into position.
- Show the control numbers on the board to simplify the task.
- Simplify the task even further with an activity that shows a reduced number of scrambled tiles to search through.
- Assemble the Hundred Board in a random fashion.
- Assemble the Hundred Board in sequence by Evens or Odds.
Features:
- Every number can be heard aloud when it is placed into position, reinforcing the name of each number for the child.
- At the bottom of the screen there is either a score or a timer for parents and teachers to evaluate a child's progress.
Accomplishments:
Schools worldwide have incorporated our apps into their classrooms. See it used in a Montessori school in Germany here: http://youtu.be/U7GWhcEblbI
The Hundred Board is now promoted by the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership as an effective app for learning number sequencing techniques.
Customer Comments:
"This looks very simple, but, you'd be surprised how engrossing the children find this lesson to be. I've watched our five year old daughter spend over an hour working with it, trying to get to a hundred!"
"Our son (6) started first grade and is ecstatic to be the only kid to write all the numbers from 1-100! Your app is fun to him!"
This activity is a time-tested, teaching tool used in the Montessori classroom that children enjoy doing. The app was co-developed and approved by an AMI certified Montessori teacher with over forty years experience. Use this app as a complement to your child's classroom education and as a follow-up to the other Montessori applications in the app store teaching introductory counting. Your child will enjoy this challenging and fun activity!

I am working with my daughter to learn to count, and I was hoping there would be sound so she can get the number as she is matching it.
Enjoy the app. My daughter loves it and is learning. However, the numbers are jumbled exactly the same each new game. I would have given 5 stars if if were not for that.
Last year, I suffered a traumatic brain injury after getting run over (long story). When I woke up from my coma, I downloaded every cog puzzle, brain teaser & IQ app that I could find. This is one I keep coming back to because it's well-designed & FUN. Great for attention, memory & sequencing. Would be better with a timer, so you could measure progress, but all in all, solid app. I'm 38 but odds are, kids will like it to. Look both ways when crossing the interstate.
Love the premise of this app, but it won't download to my iPad. Please help! Sends it to iTunes and won't install.
This is a fabulous app. My son has been working on it at home and then excited to show his teachers. We work together though because he is a little overwhelmed by all of the numbers. But so excited about this app! Nice work!
My kids love this. I like it. This app is very similar to the actual 100 Board used in Montessori classrooms. It needs auditory feedback in it though. When the user selects an incorrect number, it just does nothing, where it should razz or bloop or something. I don't think the numbers get mixed up into random locations, either. I'd like to see it do more, too. Keep trying.
This app would be good for very young children. The simple instructions allow the game to be played by the child alone. I love that the app is true to the Montessori ideals of education meaning the child learns independently through inquiry. I would suggest that the app include options for feedback for students other than how many times the child answers incorrectly. For instance, possibly give the student a clue to what the correct number is instead of simply increasing the number of incorrect answers. Also, tell the child the correct answer after the child incorrectly answers. This is a great way for the child to receive informal feedback while perfecting their counting skills.
I would like it more if you could build up to 100 or control the number to be achieved, ie count to 20. It would also be nice if the numbers scrambled after each game.
Being a Montessori teacher, I am excited about this app. My only regret is the lay out of the numbers, there should be another section available where the child can pick by tens, 1-10,11-20,... That would make it easier on children learning to use the 100 board. Also an option to have the numbers said in various language would be amazing!
