Incredible app

By far the best app I have found! I'm so thankful I found it! I used the free app and as soon as it ran out, I bought the app. Best money ever spent! It has helped so much and I am so very thankful for the app.

Like a good teacher

Seriously makes me excited to learn Japanese because I feel like I'm actually UNDERSTANDING the language rather than just memorizing it. An excellent resource.

It's great.

The title.

BEST app for learning Japanese

merpelyn

Better than a textbook. The writer of this app really takes the time to teach you the characters before throwing you right in. The constant switch between characters, vocabulary, and cultural notes keep it interesting. Interactive quizzes at the end help you remember what you've learned. I didn't hesitate a bit to upgrade to the full version. Doumo arigatou gozaimasu!!!

Really wonderful for a returning student

I took Japanese in college (10 years ago), but had to let it drop after I graduated. At that point, I knew all the kana, some kanji, and could hold basic conversations; my skills went downhill considerably after that. Since then, I've been looking for something to refresh what I knew and put me on the path to learning more: after a few false starts, this turned out to be that app. The lessons proceed at a quick pace, but with plenty of opportunity to stop and practice, or to go back and refresh topics or vocabulary. The kana matching game is surprisingly helpful for keeping in practice. The cultural notes and explanations are top-notch. I've moved on to the next app (and am really hoping to eventually see an Advanced level 3) I started over pretty much from the beginning, despite many chapters of things that I still could handle from my decade-old lessons. It felt a little slow, but the culture notes were nice, and I ran across the occasional vocabulary I didn't remember, and after a dozen or so chapters I was feeling challenged. What this app won't do is teach you to speak the language out loud with any kind of real proficiency. Yeah, you can and should practice your pronunciations as you go, but without the ability to have it listen and correct you (which is beyond every other app I've seen, too) you'll need to seek out real Japanese speakers to practice. That's not a bad thing at all, in my opinion.

Best Japanese app for beginners so far..

It is best app I found to learn the basics of Japanese. I cannot wait to start the intermediate level.

Better than my school’s Japanese course! Don't be intimidated by the $10.

Hi. I'm 16 years old in online high school (10th grade) taking Japanese 1 A/B. Like many other courses, apps, and programs, its method of teaching is very poor. It teaches you to memorize phrases, vocabulary, and greeting lines, but it doesn't teach you how the language itself works, the insides of it, like the grammar and such, making it impossible to make practical use. I've scrolled through many apps, but all they taught was memorizing vocab, until I found Human Japanese. At first, I was intimidated by the $10, but then I asked my mom to buy it and give it a shot. Turns out, it's well worth it. A real person walks you through the lessons, like a real teacher. You're not just taught cool witty phrases and then not learn anything else -- you learn the whole language. There is audio, grammar break-up of sentences, pictures, and stroke animations. You learn some culture along the way in organized chapters. I can’t find a single flaw about this app other than that the pace if a tid bit fast – however, you can always slow down if you’d like and do the review quizzes. I use this app as my main learning tool, and I actually use my school’s Japanese course as a supplementary phrase/vocab book haha. That’s just to prove that this app meets or exceeds the quality of traditional teaching. Btw, if any of this sounds like an employee wrote this, you can check me out on YouTube at: bit.ly/1MnTAoK (Username: CreativiTimothy). I do videos of creative things I do.

Well made!!!

The creator has gone out of their way to make this app immersive and user friendly. It makes you want to learn more, instead of boringly kicking you from lesson to lesson.

Excellent Resource

I have many Japanese learning apps on my phone, but this one tops them all. The material is presented in such a fluid and succinct manner, and is incredibly easy to make sense of. I highly recommend this app.
