Not sure what the complaint about "default pieces" is. I play on iPad, iPod, and iPhone. Works great on all. Most human-like AI of any iOS chess game.
MUCH too difficult, poorly designed, not fun

Goes from much too easy to much too hard, with nothing in between. The app itself is not very well done, a lot of the details are poorly designed. I really wish I hadn't wasted $10 on this. The cheaper chess apps I've gotten are better. Remembers the last file name you save and overwrites without confirmation, so it's very easy to accidentally overwrite your saved games. Also, doesn't resign even when the game is clearly lost, or end the game when there is insufficient material to mate. Feels like a good underlying chess engine, but a very poor implementation of it. Definitely not worth 10 bucks, there are much better chess apps on the app store for much less. This should've been a $4 app.

I have Hiarcs on my iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It's absolutely great! Better than shredder by far.
Great engine, average interface

If there's one thing is like, it's being able to copy paste text of chess moves or upload images of chess boards/ chess games and let the app go from there after some OCR.

So good, continually makes me better. Really improved my game. Started with it on palm at about 1100 ELO years ago and through the versions and years I'm playing at about 2100!
