Hear Coach

Individuals with hearing loss tend to have increased difficulty understanding speech in noise and as a result experience communication breakdowns. Tasks like the ones in this game have been shown to help improve listening ability in noise. When people have improved listening in noise they don't have to work as hard to hear and can relax and participate in conversations without straining, even in loud or busy environments.

Hear Coach is a suite of listening games developed by Starkey Hearing Technologies; it features games that challenge both your cognitive and auditory sharpness.

Hear Coach allows you to track your progress over time and unlock more difficult levels as your performance improves. A different background noise stimulus within each of the levels provides you with varying degrees of difficulty to help you train your auditory system in different environments. This app is designed to help people who think they might have a hearing loss, people who have new hearing aids, and even experienced hearing aid users who want to get the most out of their listening.

Best Starkey App Yet!

I have hearing loss myself, and I can realize benefits of different Spectoral iQ settings using this App. This will be a great fitting and counseling tool! Thanks!!

Some glitches

Installed the update and have noticed some freezing at times and a timer failing to start during a session.

One problem is with the pace of the exercises within each level of Word Target. While you are looking at the screen to see your score, the next exercise is already in progress, which causes the user to be distracted by simultaneous audio and video, making the speech discrimination significantly more difficult. Finally, although it's fun and interesting way to demonstrate and calibrate hearing in noise, there aren't enough exercises to really get any practice. You'd need a much larger number of exercises in the app to put it to good use to improve your skill level.

Fun

This is a fun game. I had my screen tilted to the right so more sound came to my left ear. Probably should have used headphones.

Great

As a speech-language pathologist in a rehabilitation/long-term care center I am excited to try this with my patients!

great rehab app!

This is a great rehab app! You have to be able to pass a level before you can move on to the next level, and each next level is more trickier than the previous! This app challenges your listening skills.
