Too glitchy

Lousy Game! Many Negatives! Deserves No Stars,
corntiques1

I only played the free demo. I am so glad that I did not purchase this game. The only positive is a fast refresh rate (5 seconds). Negatives: 1. The bottom one-third of the screen is unusable. It has a red background. Because the usable screen area is drastically reduced, everything is MINUSCULE - inventory items (not labeled), buttons are clustered on the bottom right-hand side (map, collectibles, achievements, etc.). 2. TOUCH SENSITIVITY issues when playing HOPs (I only played one game). 3. TEXT is written in CHARTREUSE (difficult to read). 4. Interactive map is useless. Does not show hidden collectibles or other actions, just flashes available locations. 5. Does not indicate what collectibles to find (no button on the bottom or illustrated on the map). This game is on a par with the latest puppet game!! NOT RECOMMENDED!

Ugh...
Ba-da-boom

I know it takes an effort to create a game, but I cannot recommend this one for multiple reasons. It has a very "dated" feel to it; the inventory area has unused space which takes away from the scenes; there are spelling and grammatical errors: words omitted from written sentences, last name spelled as "Mallory" and "Malory;" buttons to access Collection and Achievements are extremely small. I get the feeling that this was either rushed to get published, resulting in sloppiness, or a much older game that was never published and somehow "dusted off." The free trial is extremely short, but more than enough to tell the game play is unsatisfying.

Thanks AMAX for ruining this one too
Dracyy

AMAX has now ruined 2 of my favorite series - first Puppetshow and now Haunted Legends. Why in the heck is the bottom third of the screen blocked by an oversized red banner?? The inventory only uses a tiny portion of the blocked area so WTH??? Dialogue is microscopic, when using inventory you end up hitting the iPad taskbar menu from the bottom. And if you want to set your difficulty you actually have to start the game, hit menu, difficulty and change. Not that you have any options anyway! And 30 scenes? Really? Everything you hated about the way they butchered Puppetshow is in this one too! And forget profiles. If someone else wants to play you have to erase the game and start over. Old, dated, crappy and frustrating.

SG is back

Update: Forgot to mention-if you don’t like rats, avoid this one. Creepy one on opening page, and a HUGE one in the bonus. UGH ! Improvement over the last AMAX offering. A couple of observations - the map does not indicate where available actions are located, only shows objectives. Not helpful! Also, the touch is awkward. Game play is straightforward, so I will leave my rating at a 3.

Taking a chance...

UPDATE: This may be the shortest game I've ever played, with approximately 2.5 hours of gameplay in the main portion. Both the pros and cons from the trial continue. I did enjoy the minigames that involved assembly of items and creation of potions. But at least one minigame (placing tiles in the right order) was unsolvable, since tiles other than the one you selected moved, and movement did not match the directional arrows provided. AMAX Interactive also repeated the ridiculous "trace the line" game from earlier apps. Word list HOPs were particularly annoying, because you can barely see which items have been lined out because they were found. There are plain stupid errors throughout that would have been found in decent QA and beta testing. I may not even try the next game from AMAX Interactive. There are better games that I can buy right now. My rating is 2.5, rounded up to 3.0 for the successfully creepy interactive environment. I don't recommend purchasing unless you are really bored and have cash to blow. Looking for an amusing, lengthy point and click adventure game? Try Edna and Harvey: The Breakout ($4.99 when I played) or Kelvin and the Infamous Machine ($1.99). INITIAL REVIEW OF TRIAL: Wow, that is a short trial period. The game literally breaks off mid-monologue to demand purchase. Which I reluctantly did...here's why. Cons: My heart sunk when I saw it is yet another game from AMAX Interactive, the developer behind the deeply flawed PuppetShow: Arrogance Effect. Some of the same issues are present in this game, including a giant border that consumes more than 1/4 of the screen. Again, the icons, inventory and instructions contained in the border are so small that you can barely read them. The unreadable theme continues with the bright chartreuse text used in the notes you find in the game. And take time to read the notes: there are many, but the game doesn't keep them available in a journal. The map enables teleportation, but it doesn't indicate where actions are needed or where there are still collectibles. Figuring out what to do next is made even more challenging by the game's retention of mini-scenes you've already completed (the industry standard is to close them for the player). I don't expect to be wowed by the minigames. The only one in the trial involved moving gems to the right colored spot. There are only ten puzzles in the whole game, which disappoints me because I prefer them to HOPs. Of course, the length of the entire game is suspect, especially since there are only 25 scenes. When I finish, I will update my review with the length of gameplay. Pros: I'm glad there are some to report! I thought the voiceovers and soundtrack were well done. The graphics and cut scenes are a horror show in the right way, including some effective jump scares. :-D In the one HOP, you look for objects based on silhouette and have to use some items to find others. There are also interactive objects in each scene, which reinforces the truly creepy ambience. Difficulty is customizable. There are two collectibles: seals that you collect and use in gameplay, and fire gems that allow you to restore the house. One big plus is that the sensitivity is MUCH better than Arrogance Effect. You aren't constantly bounced out of puzzles, and it's easier to select items and actions. I am taking a $3.99 gamble. I like this series (which still features our favorite dwarf) and I have hope. If you are also an HOAG horror fan, you may want to try this too.

Another ruin series by AMAX
Zan K

I seriously want the Bunny (ERS) back! I am so disappointed of having another favorite series of games ruined by AMAX. I will say this one had potential as far as plot. But it went downhill from there. It was way to short and had errors. I use to look forward when I saw games previous produced by ERS but now I after getting burned by AMAX on my favorite games I wonder what will they screw up this time!

Keeps jamming
ritemomo

Trying to play but it keeps freezing up and kicking me out of the game.

Okay Game
H1ppo109109

Well folks i think the game developers are joining many of the grocery products we are now offered. Have not raised prices but offer less product. Much shorter games than previously. Think toilet paper (less paper per roll). I think this is our new normal. This particular game is so so for fun of play. I am entertained enough to last until Thursday. Crossing fingers we are offered a new game then.

Lazy port
CaptainMorgansRum

Big Fish Games should be ashamed for bringing this to iOS in such a lazy fashion. The massive blank area of nothing is ridiculous. This is just a money grab which I’ll happily not be a part of. I’ll keep my $4 and maybe the next one won’t be a joke.
