Ads

MiOdd

This looked interesting I first opened the app read the rules and was excited to start playing. Once in the game I saw my pieces on the bottom and just as I attempted to click on my piece the whole row moved up and I apparently clicked on an ad and was taken out of the game and back to the app store where I quickly exited and decided to delete the game. No thank you. I don't like ads in my games.

Fun and inexpensive

Capitain Lee

I am glad I downloaded this, it is definitely something new. The game is a bit confusing at first, but once you understand that there is no "eating" but "surrounding" and "pinning", it is a real challenge (and the how things move, and that pieces have to "stick" together...). It has lots of different sets (or versions of the game), going from the easier to the more complex ones. The AI is tough even in simple levels, though, and the undo feature sounds like cheating but it is sometimes very handy... I haven't played hot-seat yet, I wished it had GameCenter challenges so I can play online. I like the setting but I am not a big fan of the pieces though (the japanese icons look nice, but I hate the colors). However, the music is superb! I removed the ads for 0.99, if you consider the complexity of this game for that price, it is a real bargain.

Great

Batdive

Thanks for the hive plus some. Had a couple crash issues usually right after first piece is played but the save game feature makes it quick to get back in the game. 4 stars for now because of the crash.

A great game

Lukunkel

An excellent game if you enjoy abstracts. The ability to create your own pieces is a welcome addition. The one glitch so far is that, when designing pieces, the Hatch and Trap abilities are swapped, so that if you choose one ability the piece actually gains the other ability. No big deal once you know, bit a bit sloppy and should be addressed. The AI is actually pretty good. Note for board gamers: this is a clone of the board game "Hive".

Instructions crappy; can't play pieces around opponent

StitcherIam

New to this game. Don't see how to play it - all it will let me do is to put my pieces around my own. Then allows opponent to put pieces around mine.. I place the butterfly, have 5 of the 6 spots around it occupied by my own color. Opponent has 1 piece next to my butterfly and it says 'red (the opponent) wins'. Game app inst say that to win you have to SURROUND the enemies 'king' - why then does it claim a win with just one piece around it?? And why can't I put ANY of my pieces around the opponents colored tiles?? This is either a very crappy game, or the instructions are horrible for how to play. It would help to have one tutorial game where you help someone see how to win a board - then they could take off with the real play

Tight, Polished, Fun Game

devxx

Stumbled across this one. Very elegant game. Tutorial, in game rules, difficulty settings, no flaws, polished, quick little game. With all the garbage games that are out there it's too bad gems like this get overlooked.

Crash City

Stbarry

Downloaded the game which promptly crashed and will not come back up. At all. Boo. Must delete. Will move on.

Hard, but I'm learning...

PudriK

Just starting the game, steep learning curve against the AI. Some tricky knots to think ahead...

Good Game, Strong AI

This is a beautiful game and a delight to play.

iPad version of the game Hive

ooiashdff

It seems the bugs have come of the hexagon pieces and gone into the game!!! Game freezes when I try to do just about anything on the iPad. Could have been fun as I was looking for a version of Hive for the iPad, but it's so frustrating when it's so buggy that you can't get access to all the pieces.
