Outstanding app, except for a couple things…

BossMammal

I’ve been using this app for a few days now, and I love it. It gives a noticeable improvement from the default camera app, even with both running full auto. The macro mode is quite good considering the hat my iPhone SE does not have a macro camera. The UI is very clean and premium feeling. I just have two complaints about the app: 1. You can’t swipe left from the Lock Screen to use Halide. I didn’t take a star away for this because I don’t know if this is Apple’s or Halide’s fault. 2. You can’t zoom in. Or if you can, it’s too hidden and hard to access, as I haven’t found a way yet. This seems like a basic feature that is well implemented in the default camera app, and I don’t understand why Halide can’t use a simple touch gesture to zoom in. They have a digital zoom in macro mode, so it’s definitely possible. This is what kept my review from being 5 stars, and what’s stopping me from always using Halide. If these issues are resolved than this app will definitely be 5 stars for me.

I applaud the Halide Team!

I’m actually not going to use this app. I was under the impression it allowed for video. My ADHD impulsive brain hit download and was ready for whatever premium subscription they’d offer. And this is what I want to praise. Lots of apps can be scummy and manipulative with their pricing; be it in total or structure. As someone who struggles with keeping track of finances, subscription services are a real difficulty for me. Headspace, for example, is a meditation app who offers a longer 14 day trial period for annual subscriptions, over the 7 day trial for monthly. Now, tell me, what sort of person feels the need to download a meditation app? Not Halide. They state up-front, on the store page, that “this is not a free app.” While they do use a subscription model, it is priced to be consumer friendly and is absolutely affordable. If you have a distaste for the subscription model—as I do—they offer a one time payment. Excellent. But, this isn’t special. Lots of companies are fair minded like this. What I’ve never seen before is how Halide provides a MASSIVE button to manage your subscription, and directly links you to the Apple Subscription page so you can unsubscribe. Wow! Headspace used to require you to e-mail a representative and provide a reason why you were unsubscribing. I can think of no starker contrast than Halide for providing such a consumer friendly product—which from what I hear, is just as excellent. That’s market leadership. Thank you, Halide.

Won't save images

Mauras Klajoklis

Free week trial worked as expected, few pictures there and there. After committing to subscription it started acting weird, lagging and what's the worst - won't save any images. Tried restoring images from the app but it didn't work, it just freezes and after restarting it pictures are not restored. Reinstalled the app but no luck. And no update on the horizon. Will be looking for a refund.

Perfect

The App is so simple to use but so powerful the photos that come out especially when edited in Raw power afterwards are unbelievably awesome.

It was great, now broken

mgvphoto

This was great (5stars)until I bought an iPhone 13 Pro. It's now constantly glitching - not saving files, freezing up, generally making photography difficult. Please update - I know part of it is Apple's doing with ios 15 and the new phones, hoping you all can work it out.

An excellent camera app. Simply the best for botanical specimens.

It’s indispensable for me, I use it for floral “portraits.” Of the wildflowers I encounter while on walks. It captures the colors perfectly and with Zebras I’m able to make sure the subject is in focus clearly. It captures a high resolution, still image; even if the flower is being blown around by wind. The manual controls are top notch for someone who is used to DSLR cameras, or even a beginner. It’s a purchase I’ll never regret having made; and cannot recommended it enough.

I want the best Film classic like koda, Fujifilm, and others…

Usama_FTW

I would love that within their app they give us the option of being able to simulate the best films such as Koda Gold 200, Portra 800 liford 400 and among others, please, for the price they ask for their app in a single transaction to have it for life, we deserve better options within it.

Really enjoy this app
