Best way to teach kids about money!!!

I’ve LOVED having Greenlight for my foster son!! My 15 year old foster son is obsessed with online gaming and is always wanting money to spend on his games. I do NOT want any of my personal cards saved to his account. This has given him his OWN card to use that has an allowance automatically added each month and that I can instantly load more money onto when he earns it. I get notified of every purchase he makes and every purchase he attempts to make that gets declined. And if he ever loses it, I can easily turn it off and request a replacement card. I also got a card for my 5 year old. He mostly likes to watch his monthly allowance add up and then use it to buy big packs of legos or video games. I HIGHLY recommend this to EVERY parent!!

Greenlight is an awesome tool that allows my wife and I to manage our children's money digitally. We don't have to worry about getting cash from the bank to pay them a weekly allowance and we can track everything they spend or limit when and where they can spend. We love this service!

So my mom got me start using greenlight about maybe end of last month and I already love it because it is the best when it comes to spending my own money. I am going to the beach in two days with my best friends and my mom isn’t going to be there. So greenlight is helping me because with the app I can buy stuff while I’m at the beach and my mom can see what I’m buying. Keep up the good work green light.

Not impressed at the moment

I really like that the card is embossed with their name and can be used wherever I designate. It’s limited with what I can load and when. I’m not happy that I am forced to give small increments that must be split between two kids. It’s difficult to load although it’s connected to both my bank account and debit card.

After trying unsuccessfully to find a bank that will allow a 12 yr old to open an account, I discovered this app. I was super excited because it would’ve solved all of the issues with our son earning money with small jobs for neighbors, and be allowed to spend it at approved stores, etc. However, I was very disappointed to discover that they charge a monthly fee for service. It would cost us $60 a year, which simply doesn’t work for us. I deleted the app and am so disappointed. I’d rather pay a small fee up front for the app and the debit cards, then the service be free. Response to your reply: Our bank doesn’t charge any fees of any sort unless we are overdrawn. We would love to do these cards but not with a regular fee attached. Especially since we have four kids. The fee would be quadrupled.

I have been using the Greenlight app as a way to help my kids learn fiscal and card responsibility. The app is really easy to use and haven’t had any issues within the app. All monies are updated in real team and just gives the security you need when you are giving cards to young children. I would recommend the app to any parent who is looking for a solution to fiscally empower your kids.

The Greenlight card has been a game changer in my family. No more having to stress and run to the bank when the kids are asked to go somewhere with friends. Or if my daughter is out running errands and needs to pickup milk or beauty products, tada! Money sent right over. It has been such a positive asset in teaching our children good spending habits. They are able to visually see how much money they are spending and on which category so that they can make more informed decisions in the future. I can’t even begin to express how grateful we are for this tool. We have and will continue to share with all parents as it’s a must have for the modern family.

You better make sure that you don't have any better options than paying five bucks a month for this because if you don't and you want to cancel it takes forever
