GPS Device Data gives you all the GPS information available to your device on one handy screen.
See latitude, longitude, bearing, course, speed, altitude and device accuracy in a number of different formats and units of measure.
GPS Device Data goes further and gives you access to the 'Desired Accuracy' and 'DIstance Filter' settings usually only open to a developer so that you can customise the GPS updates to your own needs.
GPS Device Data will also record your movements showing your distance travelled, travel time and an average speed.
Distance can be seen in metres, feet, miles, kilometres and nautical miles.
Speed can be seen in metres/second, feet/second, mph, kph and knots.
Perfect for any GPS use and also for developers seeking to understand the effect of the location services settings on each device.
Note: Non-3G iPads and iPod Touches use wifi hotspots to determine your location. These devices do not have as high an accuracy as those with built in GPS and if you are not near wifi hotspots, the device may fail to find your location.
This app supports multitasking. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. Once you have finished using this app, make sure you press the 'Off' button or close it down properly to avoid continued excess battery usage.
Runs in the background when you have it closed and kills your battery. You have to force it closed.
I have an external GPS receiver that works with the IPad2 and this application tracks all of the relevant data quickly and accurately. I would actually pay $1 to remove the ads but that's not an option. Kudos to the developer!
Three to five seconds after opening this app the app closes and takes me to my home page. It looks promising but isn't working for me.
Am I asking too much to say that an app called "GPS Intel" should include things like satellite availability and location? And yes, the app is free, but I gotta admit that the "blank-screen" ad interference algorithm is most annoying, and will cause me to stop putzing around with the app altogether if a 99¢ version isn't made available in short order.
OK for free but didn't include what I expected, namely satellite info like what you would get on a PND status page, to see which satellites are locked in and which are not. I would also like to change the format of the coordinates. Add that and it's 5-star!
This app has an information screen that explains why it cannot get location for iPad saying iPad does not have gps chip. That is definitely incorrect.. All other location based apps can get accurate locations on my iPad.
First off, the other reviewer is WRONG! Not all iPads have the gps chip...only the ones with the sim card/3G 4G has the gps chip. I learned the hard way. App is great and has lots of useful info. I would give it 5 stars if it could show the satellite map or at least how many satellites you were connected to.
