Google News. How much we’ve loved you. But time passes, and your search results get flakier and less useful. What has gone wrong? Search engine decides I want more stories about bakeware after searches for a cooking pan. My news display is loaded with cooking stories and chef training. FOR ALL THAT IS GOOD ON THE INTERNET...STOP! Oh, train the filters you say. No use. Nope. More Teflon thin film plasma vapor deposition articles for me. Oh joy. “Got it, no more Teflon”. ARGH!!! But what about ceramic pan coating analysis? “Got it, no more ceramic”. I searched for a dang cupcake pan. I found one MONTHS ago, but still fighting to tamp down the search computer wallowing, rumbling, plodding echoes of that purchase. What idiot (or A.I.) came up with these categories? What if I like ceramics, like nice Early American storage jars, but don’t want to post graduate physics discussions on crystal deposition. Meanwhile, like many people, I’m just trying to find out what is happening in the world. Getting harder and harder to do. GOOGLE (turning into a force for....what?)
Old news mixed with new

It picks up a lot of good current stories, but you have to check the dates because some of them could be several days stale. I noticed that a lot of conservatives don’t like this app because it shows too many left-wing articles. I think the conservatives don’t want to hear the truth and they want to stay in their own little Fox News bubble.
Crashes constantly

I really like this app and it’s been my go-to for my morning reading for a long time. But for the past year I’ve had a lot of trouble with it crashing. I’ll be reading an article and mid way it crashes and o have to re-enter the app and find my way back to the article just to have it crash again right when I get back to the spot where I’d left off. Some days are worse and overall it’s really stressful to not know when it’ll happen again or if it’ll stop once it starts, so it’s really hard to get into a news story.
