This app behaves as expected. Looks as expected. Simple chat app. Loaded my profile quickly and all the rooms I am in. Responsive and relatively easy to use. Maybe missing a little graphical finesse. But it’s almost five stars.

There are a lot of negative reviews, so I’m guessing that previous versions had a lot of issues. I would say that it is a perfectly usable bare-bones app for using Gitter. It’s nothing special but it gets the job done.

So many problems. The app jumps around wildly while I’m trying to browse a conversation. I can view one or two posts at a time and then I have to restart it. Also, if I’m drafting a message and try to close the keyboard to scroll through the history, it posts the message. Overall very frustrating to use. Much worse than any similar chatroom-style app I’ve used. I wish I could just have the desktop experience in a mobile browser instead — it’s much better.

You can’t type or scroll in most cases without the scroll position being just thrown to some random location. On top of the ton of other small issues with the app, making it unusable is probably for the best to convince people to switch.

Scrolling messages keep jumping between times, fetching messages from year or two ago. There is bug there. Please fix.

Have the developers even tested this thing?

This app is hot garbage. I only keep it on my phone for the notifications so I know to go to the web version. C’mon guys, this is terrible and you know it.

Used to be great. I use gitter a lot to communicate with my community for some very active open source projects I maintain. But lately the app has become complete garbage. It is very confused about the scroll position which means I cant easily follow the conversation. This is so bad as to make the app utterly useless. The browser based app is fine. Use that and abandon this piece of junk. Maybe it would be better to just pay for something maintained properly.
