FoodShare is originally focused in St. Louis and will soon be expanding to restaurants near you!
Looking for a great, socially conscious restaurant? Use FoodShare’s Map feature to find a local restaurant where you can dine, while helping the community.
One of the few apps I’ve seen that truly has a non-profit focused mission, great way to help your community!
This is seriously such a great idea. More people should use it. I mean, we already take pics of food before eating it to put on Snapchat or Insta so why not do it on gift a meal and help feed people?!!
Gift a Meal is awesome! They’ve partnered with lots of great local St. Louis restaurants to donate meals to the community. The app encourages me to explore new places I might not have tried before. Overall, convenient, easy to use, and a mission I wholeheartedly believe in.
Extremely low bar to give back to your community. Free and makes a difference. No brainer.
I’ve used GiftAMeal for awhile and what I love is that if provides such a simple way to give back to those in need by just taking a photo. There is of course another benefit of supporting local restaurants when they need it most. Highly recommend a download for anyone that wants to make the world a little bit better in just a few seconds.
App is user friendly and FREE. To be able to donate a meal just by ordering from a restaurant on their list and it doesn’t cost me anything extra is really awesome.
***UPDATE*** I heard for the app developers very quickly about my issue. Within one week, I have now heard from them again with the good news that they have fixed their issue (I haven’t had the opportunity to try it yet). WOW! With attention to customers like this, I am convinced they have done what they said. BTW — they donated three meals since I was unable to use the app. The app shows where I am currently dining, but GPS keeps timing out. I tried to take a picture of my plate, but it never goes to the camera. I tried to scan my receipt, but it never goes to the camera.
I love this app! It makes it so easy to give back while eating out, which I would already be doing anyways!
First, the app is really buggy. It crashes pretty frequently. While the GUI is decent, this is a for-profit company trying to solve a non-profit problem. Not too many restaurants are using this, even in St. Louis, and for a good reason: put your phone away at the table and enjoy the meal. I don’t think this will catch on as a social media craze. This is, at best, a fad that will be tried a few times and put away. Donate to your local homeless shelter or help serve food at the food pantry.
