Automatic HOS change

The Bad: No way to be on duty at a facility must be logged into a vehicle. Automatic HOS change from on duty to driving function does not work properly. Also does not support oilfield exemptions. Does not count down driving time alongside on duty time when on duty time reaches 11 hours remaining. Advises a violation will occur if you don't take a break at 8 hours while on duty not driving. The Good: Clean easy to use App Good interface for logs. Has promise to be a great system.

One star for effort - at least they are on the right track for ELD compliance. Plus, they finally updated the app so it remembers what truck the device is in. Half way there - it is still worthless if your fleet is slip seating or if devices are fixed to a truck (rather than assigned to the driver driver). If your drivers slip seat or share devices you better hope that your drivers can navigate through the menus to log out of the current user and login with their credentials using an overly complex login method. Why not employ the use of ID numbers and PINs to login once the device has been connected to the database using secure credentials? It doesn't have to be the only method of logging in. But as it stands this is still very cumbersome to navigate the UI. One last rant... why, Why, WHY doesn't this app report who is driving!? It attaches the driver's name to HOS and DVIR but if I look at my map using the website it doesn't know who is driving the truck. We still have to manually ID the driver by clicking the truck icon on the map and assign the driver. I guess I'm frustrated with the app because it doesn't live up to the GeoTab name - the best telematic solution in the industry.

Being a driver using this E-Log app for the first time, it’s not to bad to use but it does need a quick access tab from the lock screen for the iPhone so I don’t have to open my phone every time I need to use it thanks.

there was one time when i didnt switch to 'drive' mode manually. instead i started to drive. and usually it switches itself after gaining certain speed( by the way, what's the number?) but that time it didnt register right away but only 2 hours after i started moving. just because i relaunched the app while driving. so it was showing me 6+hours of driving left. i wasnt sure what time did i start that day. but i drove those 6 hours. parked. everything looked within regulations. went to sleep. woke up in the morning - DOT violation! the app recalculated previous day and came up with 13 hours of driving! how come? called the number my dispatcher gave me. the lady said that i was supposed to count my time myself. ok. but why do i need this app then? if it does not give you the access to logs while you are driving. even if it does can you imagine digging in logs while driving to verify all the time that the app calculates properly? also i heard from other drivers that some e-logs have 'personal drive' option that you can use even while being on 34hour reset. this one does not have this option.

I stopped for the night and logged ‘SB’. Next morning, app changed my log to an hour later, creating several violations. There is no way to fix this, and I can find no customer support options anywhere. I have many, many more complaints about this app, but thought it would be enough to share the one that will get me fined.

I hate this app with a passion! User unfriendly, a pain in the butt to edit logs, not all logs have the pencil edit option, and if you drive and forgot to log in, you will be out of hours! Good lucking editing the logs for your hours back! Worst possible interface. Not user friendly.

ELD malfunctioning... Or not??

After 4 months of flawless operation, the app has started telling me that my ELD is malfunctioning and to tap the red bar for details... but when I do, it tells me that I have no ELD malfunctions. I called my reseller (Pegasus-Transtech/ TransFlo) for support and got nowhere; they couldn't figure out why this is happening. They denied that there was a recent firmware update (the problem started shortly after a firmware update was applied on 3/3/2018), and claimed that it was caused by a repeated TPM fault code that is always reported because my truck has no TPM sensors in the drive tires -- but this has never caused a problem previously. So I called Geotab, but they wouldn't even deal with it because my account is through Pegasus-Transtech -- even though it is a branded Geotab GO-7 device and my HOS database is on Geotab's servers. I like the device, and the app has worked well prior to the firmware update -- but in my opinion, support from both companies is sorely lacking.
