GeoBee Challenge

This is a challenging game, so it's not for beginners...but do keep in mind that the National Geographic Bee is meant for kids in grades 4-8. Are you smarter than a 4th grader? If you need help studying, you should check out the National Geographic World Atlas HD app, also available on iTunes.

Three types of game play make sure you really know your stuff and never get bored.

In the multiple-choice round, answers come from a library of more than 1300 National Geographic Bee questions. In the map challenge round, you zoom, pinch and tap your way to find spots on an interactive map from a catalog of 1000+ locations. For an added challenge, bonus rounds include compelling National Geographic photographs where you have to locate what's in the photo on the interactive map...only we don't tell you where the photo was taken or what is in the picture!

The faster you answer, the more points you get! You have to keep up the pace to move on to the next round.

About National Geographic Bee:
Each year thousands of schools in the United States participate in the National Geographic Bee using materials prepared by the National Geographic Society. The contest is designed to encourage teachers to include geography in their classrooms, spark student interest in the subject, and increase public awareness about geography. Schools with students in grades four through eight are eligible for this entertaining and challenging test of geographic knowledge.

Why double click?
anhvanchoem

I was playing around and I pressed spot on the correct location, but it wasn’t loading so I kept clicking on it. And that was a bad idea and I was gonna be like 1-5 miles away, but I ended up 3,042 miles away from Vienna, Spain. In the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Very weird. This might be for a second chance but that second chance may be the last of your chances.

Great educational app

I’ve certainly enjoyed this app but would like to make a couple of suggestions. First, in the GeoFacts rounds, it would be better if the question didn’t disappear from the screen immediately after selecting an answer. There is an incentive to answer quickly, but in plenty of cases I have wanted to reread the question afterward for more details or to be sure I understood. Second, the bonus rounds contain some beautiful photos! However, it would be nice if, after placing it on the map, we could also see a short explanation about what the landmark in question actually is. I would also like to be able to view the photo again (maybe even an enlarged version).

Soooo helpful!!!!???

Dear GeoBee Challenge, I didn’t make it lol Second edit: I figured you would want to know about how I did...The second round is over and I’m the only sixth grader who made it!!! ? Dec 11 is the day of the next bee. I’m astonished!!! Now I am the shortest contestant going to the finals at school ? This app helped me so much as well as my atlases, I never would have known that Dar es Salaam was the capital of Tanzania ?? Thank you so much for this beautiful app. I never would have made it through without it!!! Thank You, Uni ??? Original post: I’m the UniQueen or Uni for short, age 11. In middle school I took the first GeoBee round on paper, and I was one of 7 kids who advanced. Holding the highest score on my sixth grade team put LOTS of stress on me, but this app totally helped. I really enjoy this game and it is extremely useful! The questions about the pictures definitely make me think. ? However, it says things like “You Can Do Better,” “Was That A Guess?” and “Time To Practice” when you get questions wrong. Please stick with “Sorry, try again,” or one of your other comments. This let me down a bit when I missed a bonus question that was nowhere near the right answer, and may disappoint others. The questions are definitely ones that make you think. This I enjoy! The next round is only 3 days away!! This app also eased my stress, knowing that I had studied for one of the BIGGEST MOMENTS OF MY LIFE ? ? Thank you so much for this app! I will be on this all week, even after the bee is over!! Best wishes, Uni ???

Good for the most part

I think the way it does questions and the range of questions it asks are great. I think it is a pretty fun app\game for geography (though some questions are more history) but the only knock on it is I’ve played maybe 8 games and it’s already repeating a LOT of questions. Still enjoy it though.

Best app ever but...

I am in the geobee and this is a really good app but when it tells me to locate saint louies I locate it two miles away and it says I am not Correct but that is my only fault in this app and if u want to buy this app then do it because it is awesome

Wow!

I’m so glad this exists! Me and my mom play it every night to try to beat it! The one thing is sometimes on the map questions, I tap the map twice by accident and gave us a bad score. Either than that, very good app!!!

Pretty but horrible focus and design
Veritas4all

This is an awful example of a game that’s beautiful without any options to focus or control what it’s trying to teach. It just looks like you’re thrown randomly any place in the world which is just horrible for teaching. I expected way better from National Geographic’s this one I deleted immediately

Bad!
Hrishik09/lions4life

On the map questions where you tap it shows some random dot that comes out of nowhere and if your really 150 miles off it will say-Sorry 2347 miles off! Also you need to be exact on the map questions a few times I was 1 and 2 miles off! To add on to that, if it asks you to click on Lake Michigan it means an exact spot ON Lake Michigan. If you play you will know what I mean. But other than that it’s great! (Partly)

Wrong answers
hi_9000

Sorry foe the last review I sent, but anyway it asked me this question: Which of these states produces the most oil? Texas Rhode Island Wyoming I live in Texas so of corse I know that it is Texas! But I clicked Texas and it told me I was wrong! It said the right answer was Rhode Island! And from a logical point of view I thought, “wait! Rhode Island is only like 50 miles long and wide! Wile Texas is like 600 miles wide AND Texas is known for how much oil it produces!” So just to make sure, I googled, “which country produces the most oil?” And is told me this, “It is no surprise that out of the US Texas produces the most oil” and it also listed the top 6 states that produced the most oil in the US and Rhode Island was NOT any one of them I am scared to keep on studying on this app because I’m afraid it will give me more false information. And since I am in 5th grade I do NOT want to learn something that is not true!
