Inspiring

millusions

This is my favorite of the stories. Having beat it to the ultimate end, I'm wishing to go now and write my own.

Fun

Really enjoyed it. Took me back to my childhood of reading these types of books, but with a fun dice game mixed in. Would recommend.

Frustrating

TheGamerBabe

I loved the choose your own adventure books growing up so I took a chance on this while it's on sale for $.99. I have spent a few hours with it, and while the writing is well done (though a bit repetitious, how many corridors and wooden doors can you go through before you get bored?) I find the ending to be horribly frustrating. Even with pretty good stats, gear and full health it is impossible to get through the last fights at the end of the game. It's all luck and the NPC rolls always seem to beat mine even though given my stats I should have the advantage easily. Nonetheless, I keep reloading and retrying over and over and over, which I've been doing for the last hour, just hoping for a bit of luck on the rolls. I have now given up as the computer is clearly cheating on the rolls. Not fun at all to just reload from a bookmark and flip through pages I've already read to spam the dice and be defeated over and over again. Can't recommend until the dice rolls are more fair.

Slow start, picks up. Worth the buck.

Early in the story, there's at least three or four ways you're either denied a way to save yourself entirely through radon actions that in no way seem atrociously dangerous, or put there with such weak dice pools you're guaranteed death through slow needling. Once you get past that point it picks up nicely and is actually quite interesting and original. But I do agree that at some point you start to stare blankly at the screen when half of your pool of six is ones, and literally all of their pool of four is above five. This happens the sweeping majority of the time, but through bludgeoning the encounters with bookmark hammering, you can trudge through it.

Good game with flaws.

The writing is well done and I enjoyed the story. However, the dice rolls are unfair and frustrating. Like other reviewers have stated, the computer cheats.

Finally a game with a fantastic story!!!

Ken,D

A classic oldschool style of gaming. If someone like games with good stories, they will absolutely love this! With the battle, path choices, and items, it has an immersion that most ordinary books doesn't. Is it just me, or does this game use more battery than expected for a heavy text game? Perhaps someone else can confirm or maybe I played it and time went by so fast :D.

A Bite of Nostalgia

TuckTheProducer

A huge fan on Tin Man's Gamebook Adventures, I quickly devoured this fantastic fantasy tale. I can highly recommend this story to anyone with a live of classic gaming and storytelling.

Hello tinman games!

Gunthertehfluffy

I have to say first of all I absolutely love your books and this one is definently your best so far I loved the story the music and especially the new artwork it all really set the mood! When I bought your first gamebook I was worried it wouldn't live up to it's price tag but I was completely surprised and have bought all of your books after that with no regard to the price! I was born long after the gamebook fad but have always loved books so when I stumbled upon your books and the fighting fantasy books I fell in love! So please please please don't stop your amazing work and let's all cross our fingers that gamebooks might come back in style eh! It may not be the most profitable form of intertainment but someone can only play so many mindnumbing games before going braindead so please follow your passion and I'll throw as much financial support your way as I possible can best of luck to you

Great reading

Game books are perfect match for the iPhone (iPad), I just realize this. Creators should just pick out the best game books from the past and port them. It actually makes them better too read...

Amusing Little Story

Der AndersB

So far I've played (read?) two "gamebooks" in the series--this one and the Spider God--and of the two, this is the superior. Writing is hit-and-miss, but overall it works. The story is linear and contrived, but a fun diversion--one great aspect is that your character has a personal motivation to continue through his (I'd say 'or her,' but I get the feeling the story is written to assume the protagonist is male) quest. The personal element of the narrative is what makes this one so fun, and, if you play right, in the end the story finishes as a compelling personal journey.
