Great board game feel in a digital format

Enjoy the unique look and feel, fun to play and worth a try IMO.

Nothing short of awesome!

Are you a fan of old-school roleplaying Do you crave rolling dice, exploring maps and battling all sorts of gruesome enemies? Galactic Keep is a fantastic remix of board/RPG games, with battles galore, a great story and fantastic artwork & sound. This game will definitely spank you if you don't play carefully, but is not impossible - you've got a whole team to complete the missions with and can send new members out to revive your fallen comrades...

Great game

Soljey

This is a great game, and well worth the small price. Reminded me of the old TSR game Star Frontiers (sort of). I wish there were more like this out there (and my kids enjoyed watching me play it as well).

So-so entertainment with so-so style and so-so gameplay

Self-improvement junkie

I was enthusiastic about Galactic Keep after I read the reviews, saw a video that mentioned it, and saw the screenshots. After buying and downloading the game, and playing through several levels, I feel like it is bit anemic and it did not meet my expectations. The game is very 2-dimensional, and I don't just mean the graphical layout. The story is not very compelling and the artwork still looks like it is in the draft stages. I know we are dealing with aliens, but they tend to look very similar to one another and this is partly due to the blobby art style. Many seem to like the art, but I did not. I needed more art and description to get a better feel for what I was facing. The combat; which is what this game is mostly about, isn't very deep and is very luck-based; the game tries to make up for that through constant opportunities to heal, leading to the lack of a feeling of gravity within the game, at least to me. I went into the game feeling like I had better be careful going into this dangerous and creepy situation and before long I was just blithely marching around blasting everything in site by tapping a button. There wasn't much challenge since it was mostly luck-based, and aren't many combat options. I kind of just wanted to turn off the whole turn-based movement and slide around the board to each enemy in turn and tap the "kill it" button until it was dead; the pace would have been so much faster. I've played tabletop RPGs, and the often-used comparison in these reviews of this game to a classic tabletop RPG falls very short; so far, it is largely "find token, kill token" without much meaningful decision-making in character "creation" (except maybe to increase your own chance of death by not investing in endurance), combat, or non-combat play. If there are great tactics or nuanced mechanics in this game, I haven't found them so far. I'm level 11, yet I suspect I'll just be romping around blasting everything with my upgraded starter weapon for awhile yet, pausing every now and then to tap a spinning red thing to heal myself. Amusing, but just barely so. I am on the fence as to whether or not this was worth the price.

NEED NEW MODULES

Jaquesexits

Great game - when are the new modules coming out because it looks like there hasn't been a update since 2015....

Awful balance and AI that cheats.

Angry Zed

Enemies can run away while you can't! And they run away very far even after moving like 6 squares to attack they can still run away for about 6-7 squares!!! And then they always use specials which are 100% effective all the time. Also I use a projectile weapon yet it seems my character has been using like a club or spear because sometimes the enemy can "trap" it in their body to disarm me for 2 turns. What the hell is that?

Too hard

Axokaine

Can barely move without dying.

Don't waste your time

MBChBStudent

Combat is slow, unwieldy, without fully explained damage calculations. The dice roll based movement becomes extremely cumbersome. New game dialogue wastes a lot of time, and can't be completely bypassed. There is A LOT of backtracking. Critical hits and missed turns severely cripples skill based play (get killed by something weak that crits you several times in one fight). Buy the Sorcery! series if you're looking for an excellent turn based RPG experience. Give this a miss.

More please!

This game is great. I really wish I could find my old “Gamma World” (TSR, Old Skool) box set now. I've been playing it and so has my 18 yo, please complete the next module… we love this game. Combat works just great from my point of view, I always felt that critical hits/misses were overlooked tabletop elements (until clawlaw/spelllaw); and this game does nail the joy/infuriation of each too.

Fantastic

Mr fixeruper

I am really enjoying this game. Some reviews say that it's to hard , of course your going to get killed some but that's what makes the rpg elements so rich when you level your characters up makeing them stronger to get through the game. The story is good and interesting makeing the exploreing more fun filled whith curiousity. All though this game may not be for everyone but as for me I am loveing it and don't want it to end and anxious for more to come. True rpg fans should enjoy this.
