In FTL you experience the atmosphere of running a spaceship trying to save the galaxy. It's a dangerous mission, with every encounter presenting a unique challenge with multiple solutions. What will you do if a heavy missile barrage shuts down your shields? Reroute all power to the engines in an attempt to escape, power up additional weapons to blow your enemy out of the sky, or take the fight to them with a boarding party? This "spaceship simulation roguelike-like" allows you to take your ship and crew on an adventure through a randomly generated galaxy filled with glory and bitter defeat.
Key Features:
- Give orders to your crew, manage ship power distribution and choose weapon targets in the heat of battle.
- Pause the game mid-combat to evaluate your strategy and give orders.
- Upgrade your ship and unlock new ones with the help of seven diverse alien races.
- Hundreds of text based encounters will force you to make tough decisions.
- Each play-through will feature different enemies, events, and results to your decisions. No two play-throughs will be quite the same.
- Permadeath means when you die, there's no coming back. The constant threat of defeat adds importance and tension to every action.

You pay for the game and you own everything it has to offer.
I see people complaining about the difficulty and just don’t understand the complaint. I’ve clocked over 200 hours easy over the years and still only beat the last boss a handful of times but each time I do feels like a massive achievement. Anyways, in my opinion this is an extremely unique game and worth every cent. In fact, the game is a steal. This developer brings innovation to the market. For those having trouble, make sure to learn everything in the game - all room types, weapons, characters, etc. and that helps to adjust to anything the game throws at you. I only wish I could give FTL more than 5 stars.
You really need to fix your tutorial. Sometimes it will just stop, and then, although most buttons will work, it won't let me target the enemy practice target. This happens right after I made the first jump.
This game is terrible! You can’t even survive for five turns. The tutorial teaches you nothing, you die before you can figure anything out, there is NO way to learn how to use any of the ship equipment... basically you have to lose a thousand times before you have a chance to survive ten turns. Yet FTL has such a high rating, they must pay hackers a lot of money to post fake 5-Star reviews because this game is so terribly designed there’s no way so many people could like it.
This is a hard game, if you don't like challenges and like to have your hand held through every thing then go play a freemium game. This game reminds me of the “ensign”, for the fact that death is real, some times things are over powered, but thats why you need to learn how to play strategically. Keep up the good work guys!
Game is bad at teaching mechanics. UI doesn’t work all the way for touchscreen. Some weapons you drag and drop placement, only for it to move when you let go. Game is very hard. And it isn’t hard to figure out what to do when it goes wrong, just that one wrong move and your game is over full reset. So after 30 hours of learning what not to do, the game will be normal difficultly. That is bad game design.
I have played a few try’s a i got to sectoral 5 it was hard and I was on easy but I was very fun and when I got destroyed it was actually fun so you are right that getting destroyed is part of the fun!
For anyone who loves RTS games, this will be a unique RTS. For those who can’t do strategy, you will lose over and over until you understand it. Most of the time if you die, it is your fault. To date I haven’t beaten the boss but I have had more fun losing than I have had winning in other games. Those who complain about the high difficulty either need to practice or they need to stop complaining, the game is fair, you do the same damage with the same weapon that your enemy has and that doesn’t change, the difficulty level changes the boss a little and the scrap levels. Some deaths are caused by the random nature of this game, but most are due to player error with weapon timing, being unable to prioritize upgrades, or being unable to multitask. The music is fantastic, couldn’t find a better place to put that so it is here. Overall I would highly recommend this game with a warning that you will lose.
This game is extremely frustrating. It has a lot of potential, but the constant cycle of build up just to lose and have to start from scratch is awful. You need more resources or a save feature. Something!
