The Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife is excited to announce a new Sport Fishing Regulations Mobile Application for Washington State!

This is an early access application release for user convenience. Final rules and content will be published to the application ahead of opening day in April 2018. Please refer to the official published pamphlet and emergency rules (e-regs) available on the agency website as the definitive source of Washington State fishing rules.

Washington State offers anglers some of the most diverse fishing opportunities available anywhere in the world. In a single weekend, you can dig for clams, troll for salmon, drop a pot for Dungeness crab, fly fish for steelhead, trout or bass, jig for halibut or rockfish, and bait fish for catfish, tuna, lingcod or sturgeon. Maintaining this variety of fishing opportunities necessitates correspondingly diverse―and sometimes complex―fishing regulations.

To make these regulations easier to understand, Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife developed the Fish Washington mobile app.
Browse for places to fish.

Tap on a body of water to see what you can fish for and retain, gear restrictions (if any), etc.

Search for your favorite fishing spot and see the regulations; for today and for that upcoming trip.

Filter for target species.

Share your experience or favorite fishing spot with friends and family.

Get real-time notifications about changes to regulations, emergency rules, etc.

Confusing

App is difficult to understand and makes no sense. I have tried for months to make it useful and talked to others who find it just as difficult.

Horrible

Every time I log in it updates emergency rules. This usually takes 20+ minutes and sometimes doesn’t update at all and times out. It’s a great idea with poor execution.

Takes a look to to update

Updating regs forever. Why does it take I long to update regs? Shellfish rules?

Terrible app

The map is terrible. I don’t know the area so I have to ask. I can’t even see the dam. Launches?????

An instructional video on how exactly to use the app would be helpful. There is a lot here up for interpretation and a bit of guidance in video form would be much appreciated. Thanks you guys so much for your hard work developing this useful resource. Alex

The app now says emergency rules downloading but just spins and spins and never does anything. Unable to use the app currently.

It’s really hard to tell on if a lake is open . Example 4th of July lake . It says it’s open everyplace I read , then from a friend I find out it’s open yes but not open to fishing till Black Friday.
