Great Calendar Organizer

Niall Martin

Going into graduate school I was determined to find a more robust calendar application than the simple Google Calendar I had become accustomed to using in undergrad. Lots of recommendations online pointed me towards Fantastical, so I figured I’d try it out with the free trial. Just a few days into the trial, I decided it lived up to the hype and I pulled the trigger and paid for the full version. I was somewhat skeptical of how useful the “natural language” feature would actually turn out to be helpful. I thought it was one of those features that differentiates the app without really adding much utility—I was wrong! I use it almost every time I add a new event and am constantly surprised with how it interprets fairly complex inputs! One suggestion I have would be to integrate sub-task capabilities into the Task component of the application. Using other Task applications, I was able to import all my daily reading assignments with each portion of reading as a “Sub-task”. Yet when I view those tasks in Fantastical, the sub tasks are removed, or, at best, changed to just the “Notes” of the task. Not a dealbreaker, but less than ideal.

Updated Review

I caved and I’m glad I did! The features that Fantastical packs are honestly second to none. Great job. Glad I decided to pay the subscription. Also - if you don’t want subscription, you still have all features of the previous edition. —————————————————————— That much money for a calendar was not a good idea. I finally bought the iPad version to have the full suite and then 3 weeks later subscription happens!! I’ve been with you guys for over 5 years, always upgrading. $40 is way too much. I’d consider doing $7 But $40 nah.

Version 3.2.1

Chastwn

You’ve ruined this app. V 2.11.5 was great. Everything nicely organized with the red banner so it looked like a calendar. The latest version is confusing, less intuitive, too many choices not needed. More stuff doesn’t mean better, just the opposite.

Holidays

Amaranthina

I love this app, and have relied on it for several years. It’s packed with features that I like, and I’ve recommended to a lot of people. The reason why I’ve given it 4 stars instead of 5 today is the holidays. I know it’s picky, but it’s annoying not having control over which holidays I want to see—or not see. My calendar is full of holidays that I’m not interested in seeing. It’s unappealing and distracting, and I just don’t like it. I need a filter choice to get around this problem.

Disaster!

TheFlyingMac

I’ve been a happy user of Fantastical since the very first version! But.... What happened? The latest update crashes after launch, even after deletion and reinstallation. Considering the best features of this app now require a subscription- you’d think Flexibits could do better. Sad & disappointed.

Hands down the best calendaring app.

It’s a must-download. Well worth the price - I use it every single day, and the new widget and WFH updates make it even better!

Great calendar

Fantastical presents events in an outstanding manner. It is easy to traverse from one day to another and easy to collect all the daily information in one spot. Best calendar of all the apps I have tested

Terrible

HuffPost Grumpkins + Snarks

At every update they cripple the full app we paid for more and more. Look elsewhere for a reasonable app.

Watch & update

Judio27

I tried your instructions to clear up the issue keeping it from working on my Apple Watch (I now have the newest one) and it still can’t log in and open as a complication. Am I needing to upgrade to premium for this to work? Not cool if this is true. I am logged into the app on my iPhone X and have uninstalled it and reinstalled it numerous times on the watch. Have rebooted the phone & watch and done the force quitting while viewing on the watch. Nothing is working. I get the red scrolling circle every time when the watch tries to login. I also make sure the app is launched on the phone as well.

Love the application, complications don’t work

My watch says I have to open the application and it does not show me the complication on my watch. Removed and added but no success. Please fix.
