I heartily recommend Eventium as a great, all purpose app. It is open and referred to continuously on my phone. I have never been contacted by a developer before John reached out to solve an issue. 7 stars.

I use it all the time--far and away my favorite calendar. Only 4 stars because I had trouble with its task option (paid for it and eventually stopped using it) and Support totally ignored my requests for help.

This is my favorite calendar app. I want to be able to see my events in the month view, not a dot that requires me to tap into a day to see what I have planned. This would be 5 stars except for the frequent pop-ups requesting App Store ratings.
Deleting past calendars

You can not delete past calendars for good, they just keep reappearing.......Or so I thought! John, from your support team emailed me the solution. I already loved this app, now I can’t live without it. Thank you so much!!

Not much to be said. I prefer text telling me what’s coming up rather than dots like apple calendar. I like color coding events. The tasks and reminder are a little tricky. I just need to read more about it.

21Aug2020: Eventium is still the best calendar app I’ve tried. With the current version, 2.7.2 the developer has provided necessary fixes and has responded to user concerns promptly. Eventium is a fantastic calendar app from a terrific developer. Highly recommended. Previous review: 12Mar2018: Version 1.0.26 rocks! Eventium just keeps getting better with each and every update. The developer is among the most responsive too. Eventium is recommended without any reservations whatsoever! Update: With version 1.0.17 eventium still rocks! Too, the developer could not possibly be nicer or more responsive. A great situation all around. Highly recommended. In eventium I have finally found a calendar app that works in, what to me, is a logical and efficient manner. Too, eventium is very legible (much more than other such apps I've tried) without being required to fiddle with font and or color settings, although one could if they wanted. The developer always responds to questions and is a totally helpful person. I am very pleased to be using eventium. Update: this app gets better with each new release. Version 1.0.7 truly addresses performance issues. A responsive developer that hears his customers. Major kudos!

I use this constantly. Beautiful, easy to read, easy to use. I think over the many years going back to the pocket PC days ( yup, I’m old) I've used them all, and Eventium continues to be my favorite. The new update in the list view is beautiful also. Keep up the good work John.

***UPDATE*** I was originally unhappy with this app but I also sent my original review to the developer in an email. He can't respond to App Store reviews. Let me just say this, it is probably the best customer service experience I've ever had. He's very responsive (answers within the day) and is very helpful. He explained how to achieve the things I missed. And he is also very open to suggestions. So, I'm much happier after my original review and I would say to email him if you have questions, concerns or suggestions. ? I have used the original My Cal app for what seems like forever and it was great! I had everyone in the family color coded and I could easily glance at my calendar and see what my days entailed. I upgraded to this app. First, I was very unhappy that I had to pay for it but I figured that if I had to pay for it, it must be really great! Wrong. Two things right off the bat that I hate...one, when looking at my month view, it is very likely that you will miss an event because, unlike before, you have to scroll on the week to see the events that occur later in the day. I don't want to have to do that. Sure, you can change the font size to something so minuscule that you can't read it but what's the point in doing that? Two, you can no longer touch the location in your event and have it open in maps. All I have to say about that is...WHY NOT?!?!?! That is completely and utterly ridiculous! How can this even be considered an upgrade??? That you have to pay for, no less!
