Love to write? Love Ether!
Great idea, but it doesn't seem to work. I bought 'The Flight Path' and can only access the front cover and the copyright information. 3 stars anyway, because it will probably get fixed. Or I'm being a moron and don't know how to use the app.
I'm dying to read Sarah Maitland's Elements of Silence but the screen on my iPad is frozen. Grrrggghhh!
I like the idea of being able to build up a collection of short stories in one application, rather than winding up with a lot of tiny apps. This app could use a few tweaks; it’s not immediately clear how to turn pages (swipe your finger from right to left), and whilst the animation of page turning is OK, it’s a bit slow and it would be nice to be able to turn it off. There’s not an obvious way to get to the settings or other functionality (double-tap while a book is open) and if there’s any built-in help, I haven’t found it. Still, the idea of creating a marketplace for short stories and essays is a good one, and I’m glad to support it as well as to read!
Lots of great stories. Perfect for reading while I'm waiting in line or hanging out by the pool. Easy to use and so many choices - with new stories all the time!
soon coming to the 'droid near you, the ether app already allows iphone, ipad and itouch readers to enjoy a short story via iTunes at the click of a button - anywhere, anytime. Took it on vacation with my iphone and read on the road. Nice!
I really like the idea of this app, but the actual app they are offering is pretty terrible. As e-reader apps go, this one is poorly considered and what is there is full of bugs and unintuitive interface elements. I read two free stories (many of them are free, some are paid) before it bugged out and wouldn't display anything more, and most of that time I was fiddling with the interface. I decided not to bother and just deleted it, which is a shame because I would really like to have access to the great content. This app needs professional help. It seems slapped together in order to turn a profit, rather than honestly created with respect for the user. Too bad.
Ether is a fun, cool way to discover new writing talent (in addition to classics). It's easy to search and find flash and short fiction, poetry, and more. Highly recommended!
Nice idea but most of the books are out dated and cost money. They are also all adult books, there's no books for like 16 year old
