Great for visual learners.

More Jeremy Silman!

Fleet combat

What a fantastic idea, chess books that play out on a board on the iPad! While I love chess books it was always rather laborious to set up each problem on a board to play through the scenario. Not anymore, this app does it all for you! Please get more Silman books, i.e. Reassess Your Chess and The Amateur's Mind. I would purchase those in a heartbeat.

Requires restoring books frequently

Chesswannabe

I was initially very happy with this app. Recently, I have been asked to restore all books every time I start the app. Another issue is that not all books I have purchased get restored When I click on the book to open it, I get the message that it has been purchased but not downloaded. The book just does not download. I have removed the app from the iPad, have downloaded it again and still face the same problem. Can somebody explain what the issue is.

Can only get better with more books

Fly4Him17

This app is excellent. The only improvement is to offer more books! Tell your friends and I’m sure the books will keep coming.

Good

Coolwhip505

Good, but I would like to see the ability to highlight text, add comments and add bookmarks.

Still rough around edges

Arcsterra

Need bookmarks, esp with long books like Silman's Endgames. Very hard to move pieces in book's exercises. Otherwise, really like the the live links to moving pieces in the book's text, with the ability to study alternatives without losing the main line.

Great content, great interface, wonky store UI

dyross

I love this app, but the store experience is pretty frustrating. Keeps asking you to enter password repeatedly, and doesn't seem to always know which books you've purchased.

More books!

Phlegm11

An amazing app that allows one to explore variations and return to the desired position. I hope to see more books soon. J. Sillman's REASSESS YOUR CHESS would be great on this app.

Wonderful app!

Uncle-Scar

Makes reading and buying books a breeze. I have one copy on both iPad Air and iPhone 4s.

This!

TL;DR: Get this app!

This is the answer to a problem I've always had when reading chess books: it was always too cumbersome to go through the examples. It required either the visualization skills of a grandmaster or getting a board out, setting up the position, and playing it through step by step on my own. This app is a Godsend for the casual amateur just looking to improve, but also the next logical step for books on chess theory. Well done! I just hope to see a bigger selection soon.
