DVD Dashboard

DVD Dashboard lets you keep track of all of your movies wherever you are. Have you ever found yourself wondering what movie to watch and not remembering what is in your collection? Or have you wanted to share what movies you have with your friends?
Category Price Seller Device
Entertainment $0.99 Doug Scandrett iPhone, iPad, iPod

On top of sorting your movie collection by genre and alphabetically by title, DVD Dashboard leverages the Internet Movie Database (IMDd). This means that with one touch, you can read all about a movie in your collection right from the best possible source. This can answer any debates you may have about when a movie was released or who were the key actors.

Additionally, with the latest software update, you can import hundreds (yes, even thousands) of your movies without having to type them all in.

And not to worry, your collection gets backed up every time you sync your device with your computer. Not enough? You can even email your list of titles to yourself or your friends with one touch.

Features:
-Netflix integration to download dvd artwork*
-Store a collection of up to thousands of movies
-IMPORT your list, no need to type them all in.
-Edit your entries
-Sort by Genre or Title
-One touch search on IMDb
-Email your collection to your friends or to yourself for backup

*must login with your Netflix account to get artwork. This is handled on the "Settings" screen, which you can reach by tapping the magnifying glass on the top left.

Waste of Money

You can't modify entries once you've saved them. There's no documentary tag. It doesn't ignore "the" and "a" and so they end up alphabetized wrong. First app I regret buying.

It's decent
Greendirector

It's decent helps you keep track of your collection

Good start, needs some work
cgreene73

Can't modify entries but you can delete. Since it's just title and genre, delete your entry, remove "A" or "The" from the title, and replace. That should be fixed in another release. Would like to see an integration w/ the UPC scan technology apps out there. Just take a pic of the label, and have the app search online for the movie, put in the entry for you. Would like cover art to download, like songs in iTunes. Also would like a multiple-genre entry option. Matrix -- is it Sci-Fi? Action? Thriller? Narnia -- is it Family? Fantasy? Action? Adventure? You get the point.

Needs an update!
DigitalAntMe

1. Can't edit or make changes to previously entered title. You have to delete and re-enter. 2. A dvd photo would be nice. To use from your photos. Which could be saved from the web. 3. Ratings would be nice. Other than that it's ok.

I like it
joedole72

Needs more catagories like music, tv shows, box sets, holiday. Other than that I like this app.

Not bad, but needs work
Cinema 1

I like it because it's simple and basic, but it's missing some essential categories... Documentary, Classic Films, Foreign Films. Can these be added in an update?

Great start, but needs a little help
pastisboy

This is exactly the type of app I've needed-- right between a simple text list tool and a full-blown database. It has great potential and out of the box covers 3/4 of what I need. I'm about 1/10 of the way through entering my titles and it has crash a half-dozen of so times, but thankfully it doesn't erase the latest entries after a crash. However, like others have noted, it needs some additionally functionality in its next version. It needs 1) ability to edit all fields/entries, 2) additional genres-- particularly Documentary, Concert, and Other, 3) the ability to add/edit notes about each disc, 4) additional disc formats-- particularly Blu-ray and HD-DVD or color-coding of titles to denote format, 5) a Release Year/Date field for titles with same name, and 6) the ability to import/export/backup your database via email or whatever. Personally, I don't mind uncapitalizing articles or prepositions manually at the time of entry, and it's not really a big deal to put the A, An, or The manually at the end of the movie title. All in all, I'm totally happy with my purchase and I look forward to updates. Please, dssDigital, don't abandon this tool with its initial release!

Worth it For the Right Customer...
Not SosHappy with this cd

This program is only $1.99 and is the only of its kind at this point so if you want a VERY limited and basic movie organizing app then stop debating the 2 bucks and buy it. The pros are that it is cheap and easy to use but there are more cons than pros. The cons include: not correctly alphabetizing movies that start with "A" or "The" (for example the movie "The Matrix" would be categorized under the "T" section in the alphabet), you cannot edit a movie after it is entered into your database apart from deleting it, it does occasionally crash which is a little annoying, and lacks details that would greatly enhance the browsing experience such as poster art and basic movie details such as rating, runtime, director, stars, etc...though to somewhat compensate it will direct you to IMDB automatically which can provide the preceding information and more.... So the conclusion is if you need a very basic way to organize a movie collection then what the hell, buy this app because it is only 2 bucks but dont expect anything special.

Has 5star potential at twice the price with a few rweels
MarquisD

For $2 great program I have 1500 movies and have a doubles givaway to friends a few times a year on that basis alone IT IS worth it!!! With some upgrades it could be 5STAR $5.99 APP 1--more movie genres (take a page from Netflix's sub-genres their list is more encompassing) 2--allow Multiple genres example: Rush Hour is it action or comedy or atleast have an action/comedy genre. Not to mention there is no Martial Arts Sub-Genre (see suggestion 1) 3--put in a word list of extrenious starting words Like A, An, th,e this, that, (even: adventures like Adventures of Baron Von Munchousen or Adventures of Ford Fairlane). And allow the Customer to choose if it imporant to the title Example The Bank Job belongs in B not T right now I have to put Bank Job, The. 4--fix the the Crash Problems 5-- also Cover Art would be nice but not imparitive 6-- Actor, director slots would help the enjoyment 7--A bluray HD DVD denoter 8--If you really get adventureous Video Games and system denoters You have created a very good niche Web APP (Just alittle Generic) I have 5 friends that have this APP all agree with these suggestions! If you were to take steps to correct them We would have no problem giving 5* reviews even at $4-5.99 Movie Buffs Arent cheap just Demanding I hope that this did not come off as to Negitive it has real potential just need Tweaks to be GREAT

closes spontaneously
jacquesmovie

Works well enough, but closes spontaneously approx after every 15-20 entries. Happened 5 times as I entered my collection. Would have been nice to have a search/pick function to auto-enter movie names, got tiring quickly. Links worked fine.
