LOVE IT

I enjoy the app drops. And it helped me a lot in Spanish. However I don’t like how it makes you wait a few hours until you can play again. Other than that it’s great!!

Very simple but engaging - we’ll see if the habit sticks...

A fun break in language learning

discerning learner

I’ve been using Drops regularly for over a year, and I have finished all of the 98 categories at 100% (1663 words) for German. It has been enjoyable, and has not cost me a cent. On the other hand it has also been a lot of consistent practice. Each level progresses from a variety of matching exercises to eventually having you spell out entire words for that level. it gives you quite a number of chances to make small mistakes, but if you eventually do not get a particular word, points are subtracted from the progress you had made, so there is a real incentive not to make any mistakes. After you complete a level you are only occasionally tested on those words, but if you make a mistake at those times you must go back if you want to maintain 100% at that level. Drops is a fun way to add to your vocabulary; at least to get you familiar with many words. it could be improved in the following ways: 1) increase the number of “crossword type” exercises which have you slide your fingers through each letter. I found those to be both fun and challenging 2) allow custom words/images to be added. Although this would be challenging for the developer, it’s the kind a feature that would probably encourage more purchases. 3) if customization is not possible, at least add more words. as it stands now once you reach 1663 nothing special seems to happen - you’re just done I guess If you don’t pay for the app then you are subjected to annoying ads after each lesson, which you learn to ignore

I love it!

Although a bit expensive if you want to do more then 5 minutes a day, this program really works! It’s so much better then Duolingo or any of the other programs out there that I have used.

Fun and easy

A very simple way to learn new words in foreign language. Definitely a good use of time.

Only 5 minutes...

i wrote an opinion on this app before, and i DO still love it. it’s really helpful, has an effective way of teaching, and i use it whenever i get more time. but that’s the problem. i’m a very interested learner, but i don’t have the money even to pay for the “curious” monthly subscription. and the amount of time that i have to wait through to learn for another 5 minutes is far too long. i feel as if marking down the wait time 1 to 4 hours would be a good thought, but hey, it’s just an idea.

Day 33: completed all the Hiragana challenges and NOW I KNOW HIRAGANA. I am so happy! I have started the free katakana portion of this App. Day23: my goal was to learn Hiragana in 3 weeks. I am at 88% correct answers of 48 characters. I think that is great progress thanks to apps like Drops. I use other Apps as well and have only study 20 mins a day. Day11: I am able to retain about 90% which is a boost up compared to other Apps I have tried. Mind you, I am still immersed in “rote memerization skills” so it’s still very basic. Day 2 of Drops and I’m enjoying the pace. Quick Fast Five Minutes. \O/
