Very pleased!

Only negative I have come across is there is no option to switch the top/bottom screens for battle. Loading times are excellent, sound is good. The controls are awkward at first, but quickly learned. Overall very pleased!!

Lovely masterpiece

In my opinion, DQV is second only to DQVI as far as the series goes... On its own, this game boasts one of the most unique and exciting storylines in RPG history. An incredible game!

Outstanding, 12 hours in

It is a terrific game. Easy to control. Great story. Beautiful original graphics. IGN review and guide is helpful. Since the game save method is true to original, I don't play it when I only have 5 minutes. I had to read IGN review to understand when and how to save. I haven't left it running in the background for more than 5 minutes and I have not lost a game bringing it back up. The point here is it is a fully developed and produced game, and it shows. Worth the cost.

Awesome!

I love this game, it's so excellent, it has everything I like in an RPG that I grew up with, it's sprite characters in 3D environments like XenoGears was, and also like XG allows me to see the environment from any angle and search in anything, dresser, wardrobe, clay pot, barrel whatever... The fighting is great, the score is clear and well done, I love this game, I never got to play this on the DS so even better for me. Love how the merged the top and bottom screens from the DS into one screen, that's why there will never be a landscape mode people, it's an adaption of a port from the Nintendo DS, what would you expect.

Nice port

DQV reminds me my childhood. It's one of best RPG in the history.

Great Old-School JRPG

I liked DQIV but I like V even more after 7 hours of playing it. The story, locations and characters are so far really interesting. The Story being the strong point. It is old-school and kind of simple gameplay wise. I like these old-games once in awhile though. If only square would release Chrono Trigger with these 2D/3D mixed graphics for iOS...

My favorite DQ. fix a few issues and I'd give it a 5/5

I bought this bc it's favorite dragon quest and I've never played it in English. The price is pretty steep for the quality of the port but I bought it anyway mostly for sentimental reasons. This could be a lot better with a minimal amount updating. Here are my suggestions to improve this legendary title: -please add party hp/mp to the display when not moving. It's not cool to have to go into a menu to see hp and mp. -please allow for landscape -please optimize for iPad -please allow to rotate camera while walking

Great!!

iOS needs more games like this. Nintendo is missing out on a huge market sector of casual gamers who don't have time/money to invest in pricey consoles and piles of hard copy games.

Amazing

Played it on the ds and the snes and now I have it on the iPod touch. Love this series and love this game. Just beat DQ Heroes last night and all I can think about is Dragon Quest.

Addictive Well-Written RPG In A Classic Style

I played Dragon Quest games as a child on Game Boy and got back into them recently. Always played the monster games and not the plain old Dragon Quest, but this one I was told has monsters. And it does! And it’s cool to build up a team of them though it’s certainly not the focus of the game. The focus here is a well-written interactive story that’s touching, engrossing and funny. The port to iPhone is excellent, can hardly tell I’m not on a Gameboy. And it’s hours and hours of play too – I’ve played 24 hours so far and I’m still playing. It’s not some fly by night hacked up mobile game, it’s rich and gorgeous and fun. I hope this introduces more people to the fantastic Dragon Quest games.
