Finally DQ 5 is here on iOS! Great job SE while I agree this is possibly the best game in the series, I think it is unreasonable to expect landscape mode because you don't want to hold your iPad "upright" for whatever reason. No there is no quick save, but if you are too lazy to save at the church you probably shouldn't be playing lol

Pure Awesomeness

Spidey 2.0

One of the best RPGs ever

Update: quick save works great. You just can't use it in a town (where there's a church)/certain dungeons. On the field, and in most dungeons, however, it's a fantastic way to save your game. (I just used it the second after I recruited a metal slime on the third floor of Whealbrook Adit.) The best part about DQ5's quick save is that it doesn't delete itself when you load it (like some games) and it transfers to the cloud when you sync it. I actually use it as my primary save because sometimes it's faster to walk out of town then to walk all the way to the church. It's also a great way to have two saves for one play through if you intend to use the 3 given game save slots for marrying each bride. I am so excited to have Dragon Quest V on iOS. It has been one of my favorite games since playing it on the DS. (So nice to be able to disguise my game playing with a phone/iPad. At 28 I feel a little silly carrying a DS in public—that alone is worth the price.) This has one of the best stories of any game I've ever played and I love collecting monsters (even though I rarely use them). Seems to be running great so far (text was a little blurry on iPad Air but I got used to it after a few minutes. Probably better, graphics-wise to play on iPhone as the sprites appear almost too pixilated on iPad). DQV follows the same "portrait mode only" as other Dragon Quest games and even when the controls are set to "small" size, the D-pad is a bit oversized on the screen (especially considering you can move without it). I'm also glad they included iCloud, as a couple of the last DQ games they released did not include that feature. Overall, completely worth the price.

Good game.

Great game, not the greatest port

Vintageluke

I love the DQ series. I've loved each of the iPhone ports thus far. However, this one seems to have some of the most problems. The quick save option doesn't work, which is bad for mobile playing. And a bit nit picky, but when there are more than one enemy in a group, it doesn't change to plural (still says "a slime" for a group of slimes). Hopefully they'll fix this soon. I want to be able to fully enjoy this port like the others.

Best Dragon Quest!

Akira1980

I’ve played all Dragon Quest and V is the best one in my opinion. I played this game for the first time back in 1992. I was in Japan at that time and I remember how everyone was so deeply engaged with this game. Since then there were many versions, but the core story is the same. Trust me, you will be playing this 24/7. A truly classic in every sense. If you are fan of RPG, this is a must for your collection.
