Pay to play

Hybrid20/the mh vet

Why the heck should we have to pay $9 for a monthly subscription to unlock features that should be in the game for free. we shouldn’t have to pay for an auto battle function and the ability to use skills and other stuff and a speed up button. That should be in the game for free and if we let this slide it’s gonna only become worse. Not to mention this game looks as old as my ***** and I know this is a old game, but still it’s unacceptable. Anyways that is my two cents remove the cancerous subscription service or kick rocks and while you do that I’ll play something that actually gives said features for free. So don’t waste your time with this pay to play crap. Peace guys -Hybrid20

It’s... okay

If you want a Dragon Quest game there’s already 1-8 ported over available on this store (all of varying quality, but if that’s all you’re looking for I’d suggest one of those instead. The first game tends to be only $2-3 and is MUCH shorter than modern JRPGs) As to what this actually is, pretty much just the typical FTP type of mobile game. It’s not amazing, the gameplay is boring, the story might grasp your attention (you and your party members are the grandchildren of a great explorer) but it doesn’t really save the gameplay any. It, of course, has gachas (since those tend to be standard in FTP now) As far as I’ve seen (I’m at the end of chapter 1 starting chapter 2) the battle system is completely automatic except for the skills which you decide to activate. Skills are connected to equipped weapons (rather than learned over time) Characters still have individual levels, probably just for stats. Honestly I’d rather just play an actual mainline game, but that might be because I’m in the middle of playing 3, 8, and 11 (yes I started them somewhat around the same time) and would rather focus on finishing those instead. Still, it’s cool to see Square Enix is giving the fans over here more than just occasionally a mainline game finally. Hoping this means we’ll get Monster releases as well (I miss that series) along with Rocket Slime (I wish we had gotten the third one) I may keep it for a while because, as said, Square Enix has had a tendency to neglect the western audience of Dragon Quest and if showing support for a mediocre mobile game means getting more of the series officially translated then I’m all for it. If not, then I’ll just go back to contently playing the mainline games while grudgingly hoping for the side games to come back again as well.

Feels really old

Lucavious

This feels like a game developed five years ago... complete with weirdly outdated energy, loot, and auto battle systems. Guessing this is an old game that just got ported? There’s no reason to play this when Record Keeper is basically just a better version.

Wow

Auto battle should not be for subscription only.

Great mobile game

Pika boom

Wonderful design, simple yet catchy gameplay, and a cute story so far. I want to say that I actually like the subscription option as well, because although the knee-jerk reaction is to find it off putting, it is actually more fair in the long run when compared to other mobile games that would at times attempt to try to get about hundreds of dollars at a time or more by enticing those who would pay. The subscription option is an attempt at trying to spread the cost more evenly for a fair price, and thus give more content to the players and in more generous quantities. 8.99 a month for a game that is constantly updated and adding new content, with perks and items on top of that, and in a world that I like? I’m down.

Nope

Seemingly decent game, i was about to start investing my time/money into the game but I came to realize there was TOO MUCH behind a paywall. Way too pay to win for me. Pretty ridiculous

Loving it

Ever eaten at burger king and you got a great meal at a great price? Its like that, i keep playing it and letting it do its thing while i work. And its enjoyable, just wish it had an automation mode where it could do things on its own more like we can watch our character and his friend do stuff in towns like eat food together and hang out and chat/type. It has amazing structure as you can literally watch them travel around. I wish the traveling was longer. It feels a little short, but like all fast foods, its still fast and its still good. Have it your way. Don’t sue me subway.

Pay to play

Bro you have to PAY just to auto battle otherwise characters just spam auto atks like this game was meant to have auto and they knew it which is way they try to make you pay for it super lame. Games also boring mindlessly watching your character wander though a map till an enemy atks then watching your team slap the enemy over and over. Everything is based solely on gear your character learns nothing on their own.
