Downloads don't work

Got bored

For an app that is just a magazine, having failed download code is pretty much a total failure. Download stops when app isn't the focus... don't open anything else, don't let the screen saver kick in, and sometimes it just fails anyway. Deleted. ---- update No, I didn't say "pause". If the download paused and resumed when the app got the focus again that wouldn't be so bad. No... it starts OVER. So you have to babysit the app and turn off the built in screen saver or keep tapping the screen to coax this poor little app along. I kept trying to download the "second most recent" issue. I get it that slow network or wifi isn't the app's fault. Dealing with slow network poorly, however, is. I finally decided to help this thing through and see if we could get a successful download. And when it would get to the end it would fail. And then I could try to start it all over again. So I deleted the app. And then when I went to the App Store it showed "update" for your app. So somehow it didn't even "delete" properly? I have never seen an app fail like this. This is pretty spectacular. I figured I might as well reinstall, since who knows of this thing is taking up space or not. It wasn't showing up in the system settings. I suppose it could be an O/S problem, but it's suspicious that all these weird things are happening with one app. Maybe it was a bad install the first time around? It reinstalled and managed to download successfully after that. But all this just reiterates... don't build an app for something that should just be available from a web browser. It is a waste of space on my phone. And it doesn't look good when your app doesn't interact with the O/S properly. Focus on your content.

A really bad app I'm afraid

JailerJoe

It's basically just a container that grabs content (issues of the magazine, social media posts, Tumblr articles, etc.) from the web. the most frustrating thing is that as I'm in the app trying to read said content, the app is telling me that there's a better way to read the content which is to download the Dragon+ app. This doesn't just happen once. It happens pretty much with everything you try to read. I finally got into an article posted on Tumblr that had some maps to download. I clicked on a map and was brought to a large iPad screen sized image. I wanted to go back to the original page and so I clicked on a back arrow that I assumed would bring back to the page but instead brought me to an entirely different page (the first screen/page when you launch the app) where Issue 1 started to download. I could tell that because of the obnoxious "Downloading" animation that took over and rendered the app unusable. My internet speed isn't that great (up to 5mbps)and the download took about about 10 minutes. It's just a mess. The content is good but the app is not.

Great content

Stitch2

Fantastic content - well written, with lots of maps to download. And free!!

Almost there!

Opethion

Please make entering the article menu at bottom of screen a double tap. Im always bringing up the menu accidentally when simply trying to scroll through the article. Also after clicking on an external link and then trying to get back to the article i was reading, i instead get sent back to the Dragon+ main menu where you select an issue. It would be nice to be taken back to the exact page i was on.

Still has an annoying glitch

Limp Richard

I would love to give this five stars, and I eventually will--once they fix the stupid glitch where occasionally, the back issues of the ezine suddenly disappear and I have to redownload them. As for the content, it's good, sometimes great, and I do check to see if any news comes out most days. The ezine, like the old print magazine, varies from issue to issue, with its current incarnation leaning more on product promotion than on complementing your tabletop game, but there are some nice surprises too--the fiction offerings are certainly superior now to the old TSR days!

Content is key

Awesome D&D goodness

Crash

PatrickBateman666

Just opened the app for the first time in a while and it immediately crashes. I'm on 10.3.2 on a 6; do you think updating will solve it? .....aaaaand on 10/26 I deleted and reinstalled it and it appears to work.

Love the content, hate the bugs

iPad review: Dragon+ is great for content! I look forward to reading it every time. The problem is how often it crashes! When reopening the app, your place in the issue is lost and you start over. SPECIFICALLY: I love the free digital maps, but trying to tap and save the map causes the app to close. Very frustrating to have these beautiful maps available, but not able to acquire them. I’m forced to do a screen capture.

An annoying bug

The coolyest known to man

Downloading an issue and then coming back to the and it won’t load. Other than that loving the content
