It's not OK...

Panegyrist

I'm a great fan of low overhead, "get out of your way" word-processors and note-takers. I even used VoodooPad for Mac to author a 348 page book and a shorter work (220 pages) on the grandparent of zero footprint, "MyTexts" from Germany's MoApp Foundry. That said, small, nimble, and transparent programs like these do not usually take "getting out of the writer's way" to mean leaving the premises altogether. Regrettably, that's precisely what the developer of DraftPad seems to have done. Even the most routine of writing tasks require the user to exit the writing page, then to peruse a long menu of sometimes arcanely named functions (to give the developer credit, it is possible to re-name these functions). It really feels so odd- a bit like two code warriors staying up till the wee hours in one of those punch-drunk caffeine fuelled discussions about how to make a "completely different" writing tool. One woke up the next morning and forgot all about it. The other, regrettably, remained enamoured with the idea, hoping to make big bucks on the App Store. Like many a caffeine dream (can you tell I've had a few?), this program makes up in bull-headed clumsiness for what it lacks in simplicity and elegance. Sorry, it's just clunky. A suggestion to the developer - how about putting all those options on a configureable heads-up display, invoked by a simple hot key? I'm giving DraftPad 2 stars only because I reserve 1star status to programs that solicit in-app purchases. 2 thumbs down, and erased form my iPad.

Love it!

neelie:)

I love the app! I have it on my iPhone and use it to write parts of chapters on the go when I don't have my laptop with me. Since the app always saves your work like every minute, you have more than one folder to work with when you're ready to make a new story. I always use the ones that don't have the day's date on it. Like, for example, if I wrote a story both yesterday and today and wanted to create a new one, I'd use the older one. It's simple, really.

iCloud Not Pushing to Devices

I have 2 iPods, one a 4th gen and on a 5th gen, and whenever I save something it doesn't go through to my iPods. I have Documents and Data turned on in iCloud and iCloud Sync on in DraftPad setting on both of them. They are both connected to the Internet as well and they still won't sync with each other! I've rebooted them both and removed and readded the maintext.draftpad file in iCloud to see if it would resolve my issue but it's still not working! Hopefully you guys come out with a fix for this be caused I'm so confused! :(

I ADORE this!

Yuki998

This is the best app for a writer ever. With me having 5+ stories, this helps when I run out of notebooks and paper. I have completed one story on this so far and am currently working on another. I recommend this app for fun writing and Fanfic writers.

Perfect and simple

Fast, simple, and useful.

Should be in iPhone Essentials!

Quick opening, simple, customizable with actions, it does a lot. Would give it 5 stars if it had 2 things that similar apps have, a custom tool bar above the keyboard for commonly used punctuation, and font/color options.

Overall Satisfied

I like this app, but I would prefer to be able to save more than one thing at a time

Love it!

This app is great for writing! I just wish when you upload your work to skydrive or something it wouldn't have the weird symbol in place of ' or ".

Awesome but 1 set back

The best tool for writing, but I only have one problem… I can't write more than one story at a time… I know it's not the best to write more than one story at a time but with ideas popping out of ur head like crazy that would sure help then I will give it a 5 star rating
