The app itself works just fine, it’s the policies of the company and the % they’re taking now. This is an app/website I have used off and on for years, but I’ll be moving on to something more upfront and more respectful of the members. Many of the people in my just finished game actually “won” their weigh-in, but LOST money. The app is set up to trick players into buying their “membership” for $5 (not required, but if you’re not familiar, you can easily think this is part of it, as it’s automatically added to your cart and you have to go out of your way to delete it.) As the game only awarded about $2 above the $35 buy in, that means they paid $40, and only got back $37. Additionally they heavily promoted bonuses (i.e. “we’re adding $5k to the pot!”) but then took 25% of that bonus back for themselves right off the top, which is questionable as far as business practices go. In the end, you do not want to use this app or website. There are better alternatives out there (I’m not naming them, because then it looks like I’m only here to promote them. I’m not. I’m a real customer, who will quickly be a former customer.) Do yourself a favor and skip DietBet.

$262k pot. I won. To play the buy in was $35, I paid an additional $5 to the company. Do you know how much we won? $.04 FOUR CENTS. What a joke. I’ve been hosting my own on Facebook. I suggest doing the same. Don’t give them your money.

This used to be fun, and all the while you lose weight. Then the rich guys sitting in the leather seat thought the money felt good, and then greed set in. Don’t waste your money. It’s a lot of work to win .004. Save $1 a day and get a spa service. Don’t help the rich get richer, just in case you do fail. What a joke.

What a rip off! Took over 33% of our pot for them selves. That’s garbage and will never use this app again. If you like giving away your money for nothing use this app!! Garbage!!!!!

Run the other way as fast as you can. I was just in a $100 bet on Diet bet. A pot of $46,000. Only $34,000 of that total completed the challenge. You would think we get a nice winning right? Nope we got our $100 back and that’s it. DietBet has the rights to keep up to 25 percent of the winnings at their discretion. They are absolute crooks. If you want to win some money do not come here. They absolutely steal the pot when they feel like doing it. Imaging being in a pot like that and only getting your money back? This site should be absolutely shut down for them being able to keep pots at their discretion. Run guys before your disappointed like my whole group was.

My first and last game... The way I understand it, there were no payouts? If you didn’t hit 4%, you lost $105. If you hit 4%, you lost $1.22.. When I look at profiles and where it displays aggregate winnings, I’m assuming it’s totally deceptive? My membership ‘winnings’ would reflect $103.78, yet I was really in the red. Don’t get me wrong.. it’s a good motivator and great for those lacking socialism, but very deceptive.

I’ll admit I’ve used the app for a good kick in the butt and a way to hold me accountable. However, I can’t get past the idea that DietBet makes thousands off of us, while when we make our weight, we get less than $10 back.... If the entry fee is $35 and 5k people are playing. Let’s say 60% make their weight. DietBet takes 25% of the earnings, making that roughly 50k. Leaving the rest of the 3k winners to split $150,000 which is about $44 ish. So that’s your $35 back and then a little bit, while DietBet gets to keep 50k..... and that’s just ONE GAME! They do so many games a month. I can’t imagine how much they make off of us trying to lose weight and better ourselves and when we do make it, we get less than $10 for our hard efforts. (There are a lot of games that they’ll make more than 50k) Especially since the 4 week challenges is to lose 4% of your body weight. Which actually seems quite unhealthy. (1-2 lbs a week...) DietBet and hosts profit huge off of us. And it’s kind of disgusting. If you’re okay with that, then go for it. But the way they make their profits, insane.
