This game had some excellent sprite graphics and a neat weapon customizing system. Though I do wish it used a proper d-pad instead of the pseudo analog stick it has, which makes movement more cumbersome than it needs to. A map would also be helpful, but it doesn't get in the way of the gameplay.

Bottom line: Save your $2 for a better game. On its surface, Dark Incursion looks like a pleasant throwback to old days of metroidvania fun. Unfortunately it's plagued by questionable, and sometimes extremely frustrating, controls; the power ups having limited uses does nothing to add to enjoyment of the game -- having to use them sparingly leaves you mostly using the most basic weaponry even after getting powerful upgrades. In addition, the game is only a pathetically short episode in what I can only assume is intended to be a larger series. I suppose it might be worth the $2 if you really love metroidvania games, but there are plenty of more enjoyable iOS games available.

I liked the art & the story, but there are several glitches (like freezing up & difficulty selecting fuses). Plus, what gives with a "to be continued" after 90min of play?

The idea of a mobile steampunk game in the vein of recent Castlevania titles is pretty intruiging, and Dark Incursion does deliver... somewhat. The graphics are good, although the sound is largely forgettable. The customizable controls work, but the way the character herself controls just feels odd. She gains momentum too slowly, leading to problems when you need to make a jump without a running start. I'll admit the fuse system is an interesting take on power-ups, but there need to be more that have a bearing on exploration; there are only two right now. And, while this might just be because I didn't play the game all at once, the story seemed very confusing, not to mention it ended rather abruptly. There are some good ideas here, and I probably would recommend this title, but there are a lot of flaws, ones that can hopefully be worked out when that "To Be Continued" gets addressed.

...where's the rest of it? Waaaaaay too short for such a well made game. What are you waiting for?!?! Hell, I'd pay more $$$ for the rest of the game! Huge letdown at the moment, 5 stars if they ever get around to completing it.
