I’ve taken quite a liking to the game, and have been playing it quite a bit at night. Yet recently, all of my progress had been deleted. I was heartbroken that everything had reset after the effort that I had put in. I had almost completed another story too :( The story’s are so intriguing, although many I’ve played are quite dark. The mechanics are wonderful, and are easy to use and understand. Truly, the only reason my review had been placed at 2 stars was because of all of my progress deleting. I hope this can be fixed and that this doesn’t happen in the future :(

I seem to have a problem

I got this game because it seemed super cool, I am very into puzzle-type games and this seemed super cool! But there is one minor (huge) problem. I can’t see the story. It’s just jumbled letters and spaces. Please help.

Trigger warnings?

The puzzles are fine, but it really needs trigger warnings. The first puzzle I got was a really dark Kurt Vonnegut story that ends with a bunch of murder suicides. There was no warning or summary or anything before starting the puzzle. They don’t even tell you the name of the story so you can look it up yourself. This could really mess with someone’s head and hurt someone.

Fun but too many ads

Wish I could purchase for a reasonable amount and not have to sit through the same 5 ads. I really enjoyed the first tale.

Great way to “read” and have brain workout

Thanks for the new update ! I have been playing for a few years ! Once my son deleted the app and I started over. And 1.5 years ago I got a new phone and I’ve been working from the bottom up. That is until it was revamped ! :) I like the feel of the new layout better. Everything about it just makes decoding flow easier. I like that it allows you to use a letter you’ve already used (instead of highlighting it red). I like that the already used letters are dimmed. I very much like how the decoded passage is above the cryptogram part for better reference. I am decoding The Mercenaries, though , are are tons of mistakes which makes decoding difficult. Words are split apart. Some parts of words are missing (re once for there) Sometimes sentences are even split apart and are in a different part of a passage (so there’s a discrepancy) between coding in progress and what if actually is once complete. For example part of what I was decoding had phrase “that is practically nothing” in beginning but on my coding screen it was “that is practically hing” and that sentence ended up being at the end instead of beginning of passage once it was completed. One suggestion: for those times we just can’t figure out a pattern and must use w hint , the letters that appear tend to take away spacing between words. So the letter hint sometimes makes decoding harder. Anyway ...thanks for creating this app! It makes my public transit commute more bearable :) ———— Third review 7/20/16 Problem in previous review corrected once there was an update. I really appreciate that the game designers are extremely responsive when they are emailed!! My only complaint now is that you sometimes don't get credit for solving a classic. It was worse before the update (I then accidentally deleted the app so I had to re-solve all the ones I did). It would be nice if progress can be saved if accidentally deleted or if you change devices. Regardless, one of the best game apps! -------------- Older reviews Cryptogram friends beware of paying for the ad free version ! So I got what I asked for ! An ability to purchase an ad free version ! Thank you ! Except I purchased it and I still have ads. I restarted my phone and went to "restore purchases"-still ads. I restored and then restarted...still ads. My account reflects the purchase too. I sent an email but wanted to write it here too. Please help ! ------ Please allow us to "buy" an ad free version ! I appreciate the game is free and you need revenue but the new ads on this update are too much! This is seriously one of the best apps in the iTunes Store. Thank you for taking tone to encode all these stories ! No other app out there like it! It's way more fun than just READING the stories ! But please ! Allow us to purchase an ad free version !

Passages, rather than short quotes, are nice. Selecting letters are a problem, but it may be my device. I like the interactive setup. Some cryptograms don’t work well in this area, but this one does.

I’m glad the game was updated. I like that it advances to the next empty spot, and shows which letters have been used. I also appreciate the text being above the puzzle, but the puzzles are now so short that they are sometimes very difficult to solve. Also, what happened to the keyboard? I liked it better before, where you just had to tap a letter and the keyboard would pop up. And I wish the game would sync with my other devices!! Other than that it's an awesome game!

i love this app. i love how it’s not annoying with ads, the stories are genuinely good, and you get to listen to classical music while sharpening your mind. a truly wonderful app.
