After converting MP4 to AVI got error b/c invalid or corrupted file

I imported a video, played it perfectly, attempted to convert it and it minimized the app. Come back, it shows converted file is less than a kB in size and obviously won’t play. Tried several times, same result on iPhone X. And I had to watch several ads during the process that didn’t produce a converted file. Uninstalled as useless.
