Intriguing

Acting is very well done. Jenks is over the top but it pairs well with the serious tone of the other "suspects" giving some comic relief. Segue from scene to scene is quick and the map showing where u are headed is a good choice to disguise the minimal load time. Loved that it wasn't a game loaded with explicit language or mature themes but that it stayed on target building the mystery the entire time.

Really Excellent!

Huge thanks to the developer, Tim Follin, and team/actors for creating such an amazing masterpiece of a game! I adored everything about this game. The top-notch cinematography and exquisite soundtrack really made it very special. Cannot wait for the next Contradiction mystery!

A fantastic take on an old concept

This is a superb modern FMV game, and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

This game is great for anyone who enjoys murder mysteries. I first saw this game on a hour long preview at GiantBomb.com. You play as Detective Jenks trying to determine if a death at a small village was a murder or a suicide. Your main tools are finding clues, questioning the locals about these clues, then finding the contradiction in their testimonies. There are times in the game that will require you to be in certain locations in order to progress the story. These instances sometimes seem irrelevant to what is happening in the story, but there is a built in hint system as well as your police chief to help guide you along if you get stuck. There is also a built in cheat system that will tell you the answer if you are truly lost. I had to use the cheat system twice for contradiction that didn't make sense to me or felt like they held no true significance to the story, but other than those two time the hint system is very useful. Towards the end of the game, the clues and interviews begins to accumulate and it starts to get cumbersome sifting through your inventory for the important bits. The acting was good for most of the characters. The two characters that felt like they were overacting a bit where Detective Jenks and Ryan Rand, but they also happened to be my favorite characters along with Paul Rand. 4/5 - Fun game, but the dialog and inventory UI begins to become very cluttered towards the end.

Compelling!

After just finishing, I am upset that there is not another game just like this to jump into. Addicting and interesting. Please make more!!!

Fans of classic FMV mysteries will love this

I enjoyed Contradiction quite a lot. It reminded me of the old FMV mystery games like Phantasmagoria or Gabriel Knight, only done with the advances in modern technology. The acting is pretty solid, with the exception to the lead but he grows on you. My only gripe isn't even performance-based. I would just say that sometimes finding the contradiction is a little more vague than I'd have liked it to be. And the final piece that ties the whole mystery together is a bit far fetched. But that's all irrelevant. It's still a fun time.

Wonderful mystery game!

Just finished playing this with my partner. It took us about a month of on and off play to get through. It was a really enjoyable time and I recommend you play with a friend or several, because it really enhances the experience of looking for contradictions. Once one of you finds a tough one, it's really satisfying. The acting is campy and over-dramatic in a good way, it sets the tone of a TV mystery in the 90s with a ridiculous plot, but that takes itself seriously. It is very well-suited to the iPad touch interface, and is likely the superior version, if other reviews are any indication. Well worth the money, I look forward to a sequel!

Delightfully Campy Murder(?) Mystery

You play a detective tasked with getting to the bottom of what happened to a drowning victim in a small English country town. Every scene in the game is live-action, shot in HD, and acted with pitch-perfect theatricality. As the title suggests, you progress the game by catching contradictory statements witnesses have made and confronting them over the discrepancy. It's a simple mechanic that fits this genre perfectly and gives you just enough involvement as a player to really feel invested in the role you play. If you have any affection for murder mysteries or full-motion-video games, give this a try. It's great fun!

Debonair Dulcet Tones of Paul Darrow

Contradiction 2 NOW! So very pleased that FMV games are making a comeback. If you like tongue-in-cheek Brit humour, interactive novels, and whodunits, this game will be a treat. Try also Her Story. This game now has subtitles which helps me remember dialogue, but others may prefer to repeat the scenes & avoid the distraction. More latitude in matching clues would be helpful, but even so, I thoroughly enjoyed this game. Acting was spot on, and I could listen to Paul Darrow speak for hours, even if he is spouting evil stuff as he did in this game, lol. ??????⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
